This is awesome. Outside of the hilariousness of it, the lyrics and symbolism explain the difference between the two theories extremely well.

Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.
I felt like a nerd for enjoying that video. I had wondered what someone like you would thing about it. I think the replacing of The Bible for General Theory and Keyne's video hangover sums up modern Keynesianism quite cleverly.

LOL, prepared to get schooled in my Austrian perspective...
Great find!
"Every idea is an incitement. It offers itself for belief and if believed it is acted on unless some other belief outweighs it or some failure of energy stifles the movement at its birth. The only difference between the expression of an opinion and an incitement in the narrower sense is the speaker's enthusiasm for the result. Eloquence may set fire to reason." -Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.
I couldn't stop laughing. I uuh, cracked up with "Tim" and "Ben" pouring shots. I felt like a nerd, especially when I watched it twice.I felt like a nerd for enjoying that video . That was incredibly awesome, symbolic, rappishly annoying, funny, and strange at the same time.
How on earth did geeky white boys rapping about economic theory manage to accrue the money to put together such an excellent video. Not that I'm complaining!
(though of course the theory is low level, and the imigery is biased towards Hayek in the extreme)
Yes, let me hold my nose in the air and claim the theory is low level. What exactly more would you have liked?

Nothing, but the theoretical praise was starting to gush. So I stuck my finger in the dyke. (I hope this metaphor will not follow through to its logical conclusion, i.e. the tidal wave of theoretical deabte. Though I note it was put in the Politcal Academy, not the TD or Arts forum, so perhpas serious debate was the intent?)
I don't see how you can see the video being biased. It's essenitally two videos in one, one where they explain keynesian theory and then another with a hayek explanation, both taking swipes at one another.
It could turn into keynesian versus hayek debateThough I note it was put in the Politcal Academy, not the TD or Arts forum, so perhpas serious debate was the intent?

Sure, but the bit where Keynes vocalises is accompanied by Hayek looking disdainfull and shaking his head aloofly, where as the bit where Hayek vocalises is accompanied by Keynes alternately getting drunk or being hung over. Subtext is too weak a word.
It could, but starting off that debate with this video is a little too vague for a 'serious' bit of the forum, isn't it?It could turn into keynesian versus hayek debate
Hahaha. Austrian economics ftw.
The video is biased though to be honest. The symbology points to Hayek simply being unpopular, but Keynes' theory as reckless in the long run. The author is Austrian too.
Being sympathetic to Hayek I don't mind much![]()

Keynes knew the policy was reckless that's hy he said "we're all dead in the long run."

I really don't think that's the reason why, y'know the "market will fix itself in the long run" idea.
However, there are some screw balls in Keynes theories. He continued to see his ideas as classical economic liberalism, or a free market theory, because he was contrasting it to the more hardcore socialists or even more radical communists. It'd be silly to argue that Keynes was anti-market, but nor did he follow the traditional Anglo laissez-faire theory.
What we really need, as a certain respected member of Ana pointed out, is a deregulated market 90% of the time, and for government to intervene in dire straits. "A necessary evil" as aforementioned member put it.
