    Icon5 Formation

I have noticed some problems with my battle formation. (I play RS 1.6 now) When I started the battle, the troop will organize themselves into a standard three-line formation. But when I ordered them to march towards the enemy, they will break the current formation, and change into single-line. This happens very frequently if I ordered them to turn.

It takes a lot of time to re-organize them into their previous formations. And at the same time, the enemy may already advancing towards me. Is there anybody can help me on this?

If you want to turn your army to a direction(for example to turn 90 degree right),..but want to have the formation that you deployed,...group the whole army, and then when you click and drag your army they will maintain the formation.Hope you understand what I mean.

Thanks for your input, I still have one question.

What are the other tactics when you are against the Phalanxes? (E.g Macedonia)

I personally prefer the two line formation, the infantries at the front, while the archers and cavalries at the rear. When the enemy attacks, normally they will not attack your flanks, as our formation is too wide for them to launch the full frontal attack. At this time, both flanks will move to the rear of the enemy and encircle them. This will easily rout the enemy, and soon they will beak.

I wonder what are the other tactics to beat those Phalanxes? They are too tough to beat them head on.

For me, using missiles troops is effective but not enough to finsh the whole ennemy army, however you will suffer minimum losses. Plus that allow you to use scorpions on those slow phallanx.
If you are facing cheap units as militia, you can count on their lox moral.

But I am mostly using your tactic, it is the best with romans I think.
