Bug with Two Handed Weapons?
I've done several custom battles, and I've been seeing some things.
For one, two handed weapons are seriously messed up. I did several tests with a unit of Varangoi (maxed experience, bronze weapon and armor) against several different units.
Against pike militia (no experience or upgrades), they failed utterly. Sometimes they win, but most of the time they lose (even though they have full experience and upgrades).
Against dismounted Italian men-at-arms, it was hit and miss. Sometimes they would lose, other times they would win. When they won, it was generally by a close margin.
I've noticed this with almost all the axemen units for Denmark as well. Even when fully upgraded, they suck against basically everything.
Can someone tell me what the problem is?

Re: Bug with Two Handed Weapons?
Were they possibly stuck in charge mode? Sometimes this happens after you order an attack and you have to reselect the unit and click again on whoever they're attacking to get them out of it and fighting as they should. After the initial charge damage the "stuck in charging" seem to start taking extra losses and not inflicing any when this happens.
Just tried out some varangian guards vs both sergeant spearmen and dismounted milites, initially one of the varagians got stuck in charge (the other did as it should, charged then went to fighting) and started taking losses against the spearmen, then once I fixed that they both held their own just fine, took very slow losses while inflicting more on their opponents. The other unit engaged both another spear unit and the milites, didn't get stuck in charge, and took very few losses while killing some of both. They seemed to do just fine from what I could tell.
Keep in mind that two handed axemen generally aren't very good front line holding units, they're best used to attack an already engaged enemy from the flank/rear as their defense ability typically (and probably realistically) isn't all that great. Charging them or anything else head on into pikes is a BAD idea, use cheap spearmen to engage the pikes from the front then flank with your axemen.
