Have you cleaned out your case as I suggested?

    Got anything overclocked?

http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic/69456 are some tips and utilities ofr monitoring your temps and voltages on this stress test of a game.

    Yes I cleaned it out.

    Nothing overclocked.

I used speed clock and Lavalys to monitor temp and increase fan speed, tried again, crashed after 5 mins or so while on the campaign map (not battle).

Check on my desktop moment I crashed, CPU usage was at 80% and dropping, RAM at 75% and dropping. Was too slow to Screen Capture and post in paint before the BSOD, I'll try again when I get up tomorrow.

Is there a way I can speed up the fans without the use of a downloaded program? This PC is custom built, I believe there is I just don't know how.

Try finding and installing your motherboard drivers. If you can't find them, post its make and model number even if you have to read it off the board itself.

Quite sure I installed motherboard drives from the CD, but it's here:

    ASUS

    M4A78LT-M LE Motherboard

Turned up Fan to max via the ATI Catalyst Control Center, nothing went wrong until I started a battle, just as I finished deployment the game crashed, but with no blue screen.

Should I be turning my graphics settings down quite a bit?

    Error SS here:

    http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...cki2/ERROR.png

Edit: tried again, same battle, with graphics set to medium instead of high. Lasted around 5 minutes longer.

    Edit: BSOD Error Info:

For motherboard drivers for Win7, assuming US, did you install these? http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us.

It's not just heat and you proved it is overheating. Instead of depending on CCC for fan control for your kind of heat, you may want to consider some third party ones out there. www.guru3d.com has a host of utilities for such things.

Your error message is what I have seen for 32bit systems. It's all about memory and according to one of your posts you are running out of memory. This will cause blue screens Install the motherboard drivers and see if that helps.

Control panel shows my operating system as: Windows 7 Home Premium, System Type: 64 bit operating system.

I'm in Australia, went to the Aus version and downloaded:

    BIOS (11) [BIOS History]-
    Version 0704

    M4A78LT-M LE BIOS 0704
    Improve AOD function.
Unzipped, where do I place it?

It won't let me see your links here so I don't know what they say.

It seems anymore they come with two installers, Windows and DOS.
Read the instructions I can't. If it's a Windows installer, you should be able to run it from there. If it's the old DOS version, you need a 3.5" floppy.

If you can't figure it out, copy/paste the instructions here.

    This is what I downloaded:
    http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...ki2/Driver.png

Unzipped it and it came out as a ROM file (M4A78LT-M-LE-ASUS-0704.ROM). Nothing else, no instructions. Do you know where I should place it?

Thankyou for all your help so far by the way, would be at a blank without it.

When you unzipped, did you get:

    AFUWIN.EXE?

If you did run it. The AUStralian one I downloaded to see what was in it is version 8.01, date 7/15/2010.

Latest version for me was updated 7/15/10, v 7.04

    http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...cki2/Files.png

That's all that shows..no installer...Just the ROM file. What do I need to read it?

Then you got a bad one.

I just uploaded the one Asus says is yours. Try it.

Myself and two other friends built it using separate parts. Monitor, optical DVD drive, keyboard and mouse from my old PC, bought a new CPU, Motherboard, RAM, HDD, GPU and Case.

Purchased it from MSY. It's an ASUS M4A78LT-M LE. Do you need any more information from the box?

    Do they have a website?

They sound like they have their own proprietary drivers for your motherboard. Dell and HP are notorious for it.

    http://msy.com.au/

It's basically a warehouse that stockpiles hardware.

On the MSY Price list, came under:

    AMD 940pin ddr3 Motherboard:

    Asus M4A78LT-M-LE

There is no reason for that BIOS not to update, then, from what I have dealt with in the past.

Contact Asus' support people. Something is not right.
