    Icon5 Overwrites Vanilla?

Forgive me if this has been addressed, but I not find and answer in the FAQ. If SS is installed, does it replace the origial game or does it create a separate folder that allows one to still play the origial M2TW and TWK as well?

But it adds some files into M2TW IIRC,not replacing, but yeah you can still play vanilla and other mods.

If SS adds files to M2TW, does that then require all other players in a Vanilla hotseat game to still have SS installed on their computers?

Well, what do you think it will happen if you add a random file in a M2TW folder ? Or in another game's directory ? I'll bet nothing 99% of cases. Usually, each program has a predetermined list of files to load and won't look at other files. This list will be in it's executable code or in special files or both. So, even it is a SS file, I don't think the M2TW/Kingdoms would ever care of it's existence.. There are some programs that may try to load every file they find in a specific folder, but they'll usually look at they're format and then decide if to load it or not (e.g. searching for plugins).. well, in a properly written program. Bad software may crash if trying to load 'corrupt' files .

    Just my 2 cents.

I can't answer your question but you could always just make a copy of the vanilla folder.
