I took some nice things out, the rest is just copy paste from other previews.

In the preview code that we could play two campaigns were available, the first of which is the tutorial. The cool thing is, that you really replay historical events. After the tutorial, you'll find yourself in the year 1796, where you replay the campaign of Italy. Its aim is to wipe the austrian army of the map.

You start the campaign with a single city, two armies and there are five other countries. Every nation has its own goals and diplomacy will be important). In my first session I sieged with two armies two different cities. After a third nation had formed a military alliance with them I had a problem after 30 minutes of playing. I couldn't generate enough money for an army and my army was destroyed by the hostile forces.

In a new attempt I focused entirely on the annoying Austrians. I also entered an alliance with the Sardinians, as Napoleon did in historically. So I gained money from the trade agreement and I defended my cities less on the sardinian border to focus on areas with a higher priority. Now, there was more money available for infrastructure and the economy, so that eventually an army was built and the big attack could start.

In the summer you generally have the best weather to fight. Autumn brings rain and muskets and cannons might not work. In the winter and the troops walk slowly because of the snow. Following the circumstances it is wise tactics to adapt them. In the rain I'll use my cavalry more and I will charge with the bayonets rather than opposing eachother with gunfire.

The second major difference is the elevation. You have really high hills from which you can make your horses charge at high speed. If you don't look out, you'll shoot with your cannons into the ground, because of the low elevation you might not notice.
