Default Ask the fans to do a voice-over competition?

I was wondering, since some fans is asking for speeches, could we hold some sort of competition to ask fans to submit their voice-overs?

This way, not only could we manage to create new speeches, we could also have voice-over for the Intro videos! Who knows, there might be people that has the voice of a General!

Good thought. What concerns me most is the quality of the sound. It wouldn't hurt for someone to have a good microphone if he wants to do voice-overs.

Doesn't a competition imply that the winner is going to be used in-game? I think that should be reserved for 'if any suitable voice-overs are found'.......

True. I think that in this case, we can simply call the fans to submit their voice-overs for review.

So should I create that thread or leave it up to Tone and the rest?

We are currently developing a series of videos for RS 2, and one thing we hope to achieve is to have unique intro with a proper voice over that describes the various factions, as well as creating new General Speech.

So, if you think you have a decent voice that sounds like a general, just upload your voice-over and let us see if it suits the mod.

    Perhaps....

    +
'We would like you to write your own speeches, which should be no longer than 1 minute in length. The situation: you must deliver an encouraging, even heroic speech before the final stand of the defenders of a besieged city; the enemy army is much stronger, your men are tired, some of them injured, many frightened. You may choose to be the general of whichever faction you find suitable.'

This would be to ensure that whomever we choose is creative and has a talent at writing too, as it is quite possible that he will have to write a number of the speech parts. And if everyone would have the same 'subject' to talk of would make it easier for us to decide which is best.

Some people got cool voices, but others are great writers; and they aren't always the same.
Also, some people don't have microphones.
So maybe we could ask for written speeches too?

No idea if he would be interested in something rtw related and I don`t personally know him, but it`s worth to try imo. You`re not very likely to find persons with both proper equipment and good voices just by posting in the rs sub-forum.

Hi guys, I'd like to try the barbarian voice-over, if you don't mind. I'm not a voice actor at all but I've done some works for Chivalry Total War (Ancient Spanish commands) and IB (Roman General's speeches in Late Latin) that haven't been implemented in the mods yet. Obvously, I can't guarantee that you'll like it but I certainly can try. This is a little demo:

Please if you don't like it feel absolutely free to tell me, you won't "hurt my feelings" , I promise .

Don't think it could get much better for an 'amateur voice-over'... I like it!
