    Default Siege weapons and elite cavalry taking way too much time to be built

    Hello.

    I used the data.zip file (the fix) for SS and started a new campaign but still, it takes me 9 turns to build elite cavalry (like Santiago Order knights) or magonels, trebuchets or ballistas.

    I'm currently in Lisbon with my king, and despite the nation zeal being high (75%) and Lisbon having 80% of christianism, and despite having the Universal Right to Knight, I'm not being able to recruit such units.

    The same happens in Porto, even though there is no general there (but I thought having Universal Right to Knight and High Zeal enabled me to recruit such units despite not having a general over there)

    What's wrong here?

    Sem general nao podes recrutar nenhuma unidade! mesmo para melicias tens de ter um general pelo menos no Castelo/ Cidade. Que versao do SS estas a usar?

    I'm using SS 6.1. Well, I guess you can, if you untick the "auto-recruitment/building" boxes in the settlement menu.

    Anyway, that's not what is happening in Lisbon, which is the oddest thing of all. I have the king in Lisbon, I have enough religion, and the Universal Right to Knight is enabled. Are there any other factors that might influence my general's recruitment ability?

    Estou a usar o 6.1, e é possível recrutar milícias mesmo sem general, se desseleccionares a opção "recruitment" e "building" no menu da cidade. O que é estranho é que, mesmo com o Rei, membro do Concelho de Guerra, e com a religião a mais de 75%, não estou a conseguir recrutar algumas unidades. No Porto até se podia perceber, mas em Lisboa?

    Just to clarify - are you able to recruit one elite cavalry every 9 turns, or do the timer constantly stay at 9 turns to next available recruitment?

    If the former, that seems about right , they're elite units, not the bulk of your army.
    If the latter, it seems something went wrong during your installation. Did you restart your campaign after installing the data.zip file?

    Well, I'm able to recruit elite cavalry every 9 turns, yes. But not light swordsmen, for example. I never seem to be able to recruit them... or at least it takes much time. Is it normal?

    Plus, the siege weapons take as much time as elite cavalry?

    Well, if you ARE able to recruit them from time to time, just not very often, then things are seemingly functioning as planned. Depending on unit type, skill level, and home region, it can take up to as much as 12 turns pr available unit.
    Unit types, such as Feudal, Early Professionel, Artillery and such have a low availability, while militias and Late Professionels will be far easier to recruit often. Some Late Professionals might have increased training time though. You should have a PDF file in your Stainless_Steel_6 folder that will explain in detail exactly how the Real Recruitment works.

    There is a limit on elite cavalry and siege engines in SS, in the building browser when you right click on say the Catapult maker it will tell you you can recruit ballistas or catapults, then it tells you how big the pool is. The smaller the pool the longer it will take for these units to become available again. Usually for siege engines the pool is only 1, or maybe 2, while for Order cavalry its the same until you upgrade the building (i think). As for your problems with other units I'm not so sure

    Actually I'm not able to recruit them from time to time. My mistake. So this looks like a faulty installation right? What can I do to make sure everything is ok?

    If you are able to recruit the units once every X turns (Mouse over the unit on the unit browser in the castle or city to see how long it is until you can recruit more of that unit), then it's working properly. If not, I think you may have a bad installation and I think that you may want to try reinstalling. However, I am no professional, you may want to try to get Caesar Cilvus (spelling?) to help you. He's a mod here.
