    Default Beta Testers

Thought it might be valuable to know who's doing what as right now the biggest thing we can do is to use our time well leading up to the release (even if you aren't going to post, as some of these campaigns aren't about nitty gritty/year to year basis but finding particular events like the Roman rebellion or facing Post Marian legions). I'll post mine.

    1. Roman- pushing to the rebellion script. Currently in 347 AUC, still working on it. Carthage is darn tough, though.

    2. Pontus- secondary campaign, generic bug checking/other observations

We could always implement some cheats to speed it up to see how well the script will work. This could speed up our beta-testing by a bit.

I'm fine with that as long as we get to a point where people are ready to try it. You could also try loading Intel's save game (attached), which is at 38 settlements and therefore nearer to the rebellion threshold. In fact I suggest that everyone who can loads this game (unless anyone has got further than this). BTW, this savegame is using BI.

Can I suggest that anyone who gets to either beginning of the Roman rebellion (Rome campaign) or postMarian legions (non Rome game) upload their save games then we can tweak things more easily.

Here are a couple of mine. Alex base.

I think I have uploaded the correct ones.
Please let me know if I haven't

If you use the earlier one, load it & click end turn.
It should throw you into a very tough battle during the Roman turn where you are outnumbered by Post Marian Romans......

Oh & if that isn't enough there will be 1,000 Galaeci as re-inforcements to the Romans.

The second save will probably be a more gentle introduction.

    Tone:

How far should we have expanded into the campaign. I mean, I have a campaign that I used to figure out the building tree that's at like 568 AUC and through the Imperial Empire Reforms. But I didn't expand outside of Italy. I was autoresolving, trying to figure out the tree. Also, I'm getting pretty close on my current campaign, a bit more expansion, but I've playing conservatively. I can use these to test the rebellion script or I can post them. I don't mind testing the script if you want me to, just need to tell me what to look for. I suspect . . . a rebellion. ... that innocuous reference to Caesar?

Also, I had a thought. Perhaps you should collect from the playtesters several challenging, clean saved games that you can then post or release with the mod. RSII is a challenging play, but it's also time consuming. You might get a bit more interest if someone didn't have to play through sixty hours to get to the reforms.

    Just a thought.

The rebellion will only happen once you've developed quite a reasonable sized empire, aound 60 regions or thereabouts.

Good thoughts about posting save games.

60 regions? Hmmm...that's a good forty hours way.

Yeah, it's turning into that for me as well. My mass invasion tactics don't work with Romans almost at all. They just don't have the agressive type units I'd need to pull off a quick rebellion (completely historical, I'm just used to being able to use at least some viable heavy cav/quality archers with Hellenic/Eastern factions). Rome has neither, thus I'm forced to simply ground a tough battle usually, and at least one or two units takes about 50% casualties. Not possible for a blitzkrieg. So I've put about ten hours into it, taken a lot of tertiary lands around Italy/S. Gaul but not going to have the rebellion for a while.

Can I get a deadline we NEED to have a viable example of the rebellion? That's going to be very helpful to know if I'm even going to be able to pull this off with 3+ hours of Greek/Latin translating a night. If I'm not able to, I'd like to make a bumrush on the descriptions and have that be my major donation to the mod. If I don't have a big assignment for testing, I can certainly finish the rest with a little help come this weekend or the first week in Feb. Any help would be great...

One way or another, this rebellion needs to happen and be tested. So I guess the deadline is as soon as you can make it happen (or someone).

I can take the TestCampaign Tone posted and try to play through to the rebellion on Friday-Saturday-Sunday. Until then I have my project. And I'll have to do it with autoresolve because Intel was using huge units, which won't work so well on my machine. So...there's 38 regions taken and I need to take another 22, while maintaining the ones I have and triggering the reforms.

Will I notice these rebellions when they happen? I mean, I'm assuming it'll be a bit different than, say, your average group of rebels?

I'll try the test campaign as well, I am curious though does this script take effect if your playing as another faction as well? I'll be quite disappointed if I'm fighting against roman rebels instead of a unified Roman Faction.

No it doesn't, in all other campaigns, Rome remains unified.

Your financial state will take a massive nosedive as you'll lose Rome and some of your key financing settlements. The question that I need to get answered is whether financial support is going to be needed for your faction durin the rebellion phase, and also whether we've made things too extreme. Also if you could upload your savegame at the time the rebellion happens, that would be a massive help, then a whole load of us can have a go at winning back the empire and it'll let me be able to tweak things.

Not sure if that will mess up anything.

Just another point I have noted was that I can manage to get members from other family tree to be my heir. Is this intentional? For example, Scipo ended up as my faction leader, even thought he does not belong to Fabius's family tree.

Just another thing to note, I will be making use of auto_win to speed up my campaign.

Hmmm, the only problem with that is, we'd be playing it on Aristotle's 'terms' as it were. If you think about it, we all 'know' the rebellion is going ot happen, so we can plan for it, prepare for it etc...

Normal people won't, and so won't be able to prepare for it. Could be a 'gamebreaker' for some, but only in the sense that they get aboslutley raped and have to start again lol

FYI, I've still got a lot of work on in RL, so I haven't done any major testing of the Armenians yet, but I will jsut bear with me.

I feel like balance can be augmented once we start getting into patches post-release. Right now, I'm sure we're much more concerned with the untested scripts that are question marks right now (rebellion script and the Capua event).
