Lower Camera Angle

Is there a way to lower the camera angle during battles/replays so that one can view the action up close and maybe at an angle looking up. I really enjoying watching the "close up" action during replays and I haven't been able to find a setting in game/video options to get the camera low enough. Perhaps a setting in a data file would work?

There is a setting in the user preferences file that you change from "0" to "2". I can't remember the exact line but it has the word "camera" in it. But once you do this, do not change any setting once in the game or it will overwrite your camera change back to the default

I'm not on my PC that has ETW installed right now and I don't know off the top of my head. Go do the mods thread and do a search for "debug camera". That should give you a thread that tells you exactly how to do it.

And how does one use bird-view? I think I've seen screenshots of battlefields where the player seems to watch the battle from an altitude of five thousand feet.

Same way. This method unlocks the camera from any restrictions

@Ezekielen; heres the path for XP ; C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

open the preference script and go to ''deafault camera type and set it to;2 !
screen here;

Spoiler Alert, click show to read: 

Afterwards dont forget to set the file to ''read only'' or else everytime you enter the menu in the game,the camera will go back to default settings!

This is great...thank you! I'm at work now but I'll try when I get home. In theory, would this work for camera on campaign, single battle and on replays? I'm most interested in utilizing this on replays.

It works on all battlefields;GCs,custom battles,sea battles,battle-replays etc etc

this setting to 2, will provide birds view of battles;

To sum it up;there will be No more camera restrictions in real time Battles !!!

Any idea on how to do this on Vista...also ETW is on steam if that makes a difference.

set all graphic /ui options first
go administrator(users name) /app data/roaming/the creative assembly/empire/scripts
open preference file,change default camera type 0 >default camera type 2 ,save as, set to read only

To get rid of ui and the large ugly flags for screenshots
set ui to minimal,tap F5,F6,F7 before shot,pause,set up shot,unpause, F10 for me using fraps for screenshot
In options set flags to never for land/naval battles (all this before changing preference file ofc)

I'm still not sure how to get rid of the advisor thing top left

Oh I forgot. To zoom in on an area,put cursor over zoom in point, press 'N'

I have it on Steam, which I think changes things up. I did make sure all the files were not hidden. Then I go C:/Program Files (86x)/Steam/Steamapps/Common/empiretotalwar

at this point theres the exe, some install/unistall stuff and then there's the folders...there's config, data, logs, miles, redist. I fiddle around in those and theres nothing to work with.

for example I go (continuing from /empiretotal) /data/ui/battleui/battle_deployables_panel_script/ and then i click and the folders empty...all of them are. Even after making sure the files were not hidden.

Steam makes things complicated..or maybe i'm just being very blind at the moment

Its not in your program files. Its in the 'My Documents' section, also called the user name you logged in with.

Once your in the game, don't change the graphical settings as that will reset the camera view to default.
