am i the only one who is shocked that it seems to be so difficult for directors/script writers to get a movie about two of the biggest sci fi-horror icons right?

I'm surprised you believe that this was ever seen as more than a cash in by the studios. There was never an interest to create quality movies, only to use established names to make money.

true, Rapax, but even if it is solely meant to be a cash in, im shocked they went in the direction they did. seriously, how hard is it to dig up the old colonial marine armor from Aliens for suitable human characters? (Firefly was able to use gear from the troops in starship troopers). so far we have a lackluster first film, and a alien vs predator vs dawsons creek as a sequel...
