NTW live demo in San Fransico and New York

Hey guys, I haven't seen this brought up yet. Just saw this over on the official forum.

Hi guys,

Below is a message from the team at SEGA America:

Hey Total War Community, Clumsyorchid here from the Sega US offices. We are excited to launch two community events for Napoleon Total War to give you, that's you, the Fans, the chance to come in and check out the game a month before it launches. In addition to getting some hands on time with Napoleon, we will also have Kieran Brigden from Creative Assembly on hand to answer all of your questions, and provide you with some insight into the development process behind the next game in the Total War series.

These events will be very intimate and we have a total of 4 spots for forum members to attend - 2 in San Francisco, and 2 in New York City. Details, dates, and times are available below, be of the first to respond and you'll be added to the list to attend the event. Attendees must live in and around the event destination (we can't cover travel unfortunately). If you can make it and want to play Napoleon Total War, then post in this thread! We will follow up via PM to confirm and give out details.

They did the same thing for ETW but it was in London, hopefully we can get someone from this site to get a good look at it and come back with some unbiased information. Good luck!

Why in Holy Hell doesn't CA ever put on one of these events in Kentucky? We need some love too.

I used to live near San Fran, but I moved some four years ago.
Why can't there be an event in Boston? Lot's of stuff there is from the age of musket.

1. What have they done to improve the AI.

2. Ask other beta players there what they think of the AI.

3. Ask if they've included ragdolls.

4. Ask if they've included historically accurate marching music.

Don't ask questions, just take down observations.

I can tell you what their answers will be. AI is improved, and they'll give you an explanation why. I bet the AI is improved somewhat because they built it off of ETW 1.3 AI because their are no Indians in Europe so they didn't have to recreate the Shaka Zulu Mob Attack logic that they ruined ETW with when they released the Warcrap expansion.

But other than that, please draw your own conclusions based on actual gameplay. I would bet though that the AI you see will be scripted battles. So it won't be of much use.

Focus on the campaign and battle AI if they show you anything from the grand campaign.

From what I gathered from the post you're going to get a chance to either see the game being played or actually get some hands on time yourself with the game. This game, imo is going to stand or fall on the success of the BAI. Does the AI actually do tactical withdrawls now? Are we going to continue to see the AI try and take on a full stacked army with a little party of 2 or 3 stacks of cavalry? How is CA making the BAI respond to a players battle tactics in a more fluid and human like manner?

Hey, anyone going, since Kerian Brigdan is going to be their, can you please ask him, or any other CA PR, everything about modding NTW, like how is it the data file set up, about pack files, the new uniform system and will it be moddable, models and textures, etc...

And for god sake, someone ask Kerian or anyone at CA about french eagles on top of their poles! I want to know!!!!

I shall, I'll even bring a notebook or a tape recorder for this

Wouldn't it just be better to kidnap the guy, take him to a undisclosed location, drug him, and force him to spill everything he knows about the game?

On a serious note.

I suppose BAI, how does the AI handle the battles? Is it decent? (As in like it gives at least a good fight).

Environmental effects, CA stressed a lot about this, how does smoke, craters, rain, add into the game?

Supply depots, how do they work? Are they just buildings? Can they be captured or destroyed?

Drop in battles. How does it work? Can you be selective on who comes in? I noticed that the toggle is at the main campaign menu when starting but if you want to stick with AI can you do it even if the drop in's toggled?

I suppose my questions would really be about the new features that CA is aiming for this game.

I'd be so happy if they let me bring a camera

Please ask them if the game will be very moddable? (other then the uniform editor)
