I can't say but you should definitely use blure on the edges.

Yep definetely fix those edges. And well it's pretty simple but as I noticed with my attempt on the simpsons is that making it more busy and complicated just destorys the simpsons style.

It's is two pixels too big in height.

I would remove the background and make it transparent , leaving the cracked shapes
it would look nicer imo!

not sure about that candle, it send the eyes to the wrong part of the picture. I'd also suggest turning down the opacity of the flag layer, i think it would look great if you made it a little more subtle
