Default Any David Gemmell fans out there???

Hey. jusy wondering if there are any fans out there of the man.

For all who arent he writes legendary fiction about characters who are larger then life but also have many flaws. He has also written historical fiction on the seige of troy.(which were the first books of his I read and are amazing) And many of his other stories relate to real events like the rigante and the legions of stone. rigante=scottish/celts and stone=Rome. I advise everyone to pickup a book of his or try to find it online. Sadly David passed away some time ago while working on the third Troy book, Fall of Kings. Heres a link to find out more http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/g/david-a-gemmell/

Troy is easily one of the most epic trilogies ever written. The way he weaved the characters and melded myth with believable stories was amazing. Definitely one of my favourite authors

I loved it soo much i couldn't put it down. But my favorite of his are the Rigsnte series which are 4 books all together and the characters are a lot better than those of troy if you can believe it.(+many of the characters in Troy arent HIS characters) I never got into the drenai series bu I also love the waylander series.

Have a look at my nickname mate, I know I am missing a letter but that was deliberate. lol And check this out http://www.twcenter.net/forums/album.php?albumid=1171

Too bad about his death. And I know the third Troy book would have been better if he got the chance to finish it.

Actually I read all 3 books of troy without knowing he had died(this is when I first started reading them). It stunned me because I never noticed a change rly while reading the fall of kings. Its hard to see where he stopped and Stella took over. But still if he was alive today there might have been other great novels

He died mid way through the third I believe. The reason you dont see the difference is because she had finished the book from his notes but still I am sure he would have tweaked a bit here and there to make the ending a bit better. Not that I am complaining its an awesome book.

P.S. Read Emperor by Conn Iggulden its an amazing series, and I spoke to him personally, he was the one who told me to read TROY.

To be honest I have never read that series, it never appealed to me. Emperor is easily my favorite piece of work but I tried reading Genghis Khan and could not get into it like I could with Emperor. But if you sy its good I might try it again

I just finished reading the second john stack book, which i thought was damn good and as conn iggulden says about it 'Strong characters, excellent action, SHIP OF ROME builds to a suberb climax' so maybe you would be interested in them as well. http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/s/john-stack/

The fantasy books about Parmenion and Alexander the Great are cool too.
I really like his writings, I will have to try the Troy series when I'll have nothing to read (and money to buy those books).

Ive read the Lord of the silver Bow or something like that and it's sequel the Shield of Thunder. Both are very good and are awesome! Also, in the 1st book when one of the good Greek characters die with the Trojan princes (I forgot their names) I went "Noooooo!"

Kalliades survives through the whole story right up to the very end!!! Banokles dies in Troy, in the final fight when he does not climb down the rope. And I am sure Argurios dies in the 3rd book too not the first!

Warning to those who haven't finished the first book, the following may ruin it for you...

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Argurios definitely dies in the first, after the battle in the palace. He is laid to rest beside his beloved Laodike

    (....i think!)

Man I should read it again then! Its been so long. For some reason I am convinced he lived longer, well never mind. I can answer any question from Emperor Series though or almost any.
