With the many advances that the Total War series has seen over these years; and there have been many, I think that a return to the original game that started it all should be looked at if it hasn't already.
Shogun, Total War was a GREAT game, not just for its time, but in a way it still its. No other strategy game has truly encompassed the feel for the time on a political and militaristic scale as S:TW. This game also brought a lot of firsts as far as the scale of combat on a screen and opened up a lot of doors as far as what kind of games could be made afterwards, as we have seen with the continued success of the series.
Also let us not mention one of my favorite features of the game, the Throne Room. I was saddened when I didn't see this setting re-created in the following Medieval: Total War games. Being in the throne room and having the general messages given to you by the diplomat for other clans was, though at times it became repetitive, it gave you that increased feel of actually being the leader of a clan during that time period.
While there are many great games in the future for the Total War series I'm sure, I hope that someone within the company can put forward an idea to make a Shogun II: Total War. With graphical enhancements on the maps and battlefields, also lest not forget a possible improved variance of speech with the throne room, Shogun II: Total War could be another great seller and overall great game to cover the Sengoku Jidai period of Japan.
