But as far as I'm concerned you could replace Jesus with a guy in a Darth Vader outfit and it would be more or less the same thing, actually that would be quite a big improvement.

Well, that was a waste of my time. For me, faith is a silent and personal affair. I would prefer not to do 'Jesus Saves' skits in front of a (cheering!?) audience. If I had to be a Christian, I'd be a Benedictine monk, just to get away from the crowds of idiots who cheer over the equivalent of a Roman pantomime dance without all the nudity and drunken satire that made them interesting.

"Don't commit suicide lass, come to the dark side instead! I can feel your anger, your hate. Give in to your feelings--join me, and we shall rule the galaxy together!" ? Somehow I don't think its quite the same.

On a more serious note, I am a Christian, but I find these sorts of skits pretty poor. First off, it portrays Jesus as a guy who steps in and fixes your problems, not as the Christ of God who as crucified under Pontus Pilate and rose again on the third day, who shall come to judge the quick and the dead, and who commands all men to repent and believe the Gospel.

Secondly, I find it quite arrogant and idolatrous for a man to portray Christ, even if it is a skit.

Thirdly, the music and acting is always incredibly bad, annoying, and/or stupid.

Oh, and its always a girl as the main character in these skits. Do you know why? Because the guys are too shamed to make something this silly.

Yes. Because there were no men involved with this production at all.

    OP: it's too boring.
The Hell House stuff is way, way funnier and much more stupid - you get some of the most unrealistic situations ever to moralise over, like a girl gets raped, gets pregnant, goes to an abortion clinic, changes her mind, the doctors holder her down and force her to get the abotion, she dies in the process, and goes to hell. Always done through really bad teenaged actors from the local church and sets.

But that is what easy believism is all about. It is quite wrong to depict God in any fashion as the second commandment tells us, yet religion is full of it.

Now regarding whether Jesus helps the individual is perfectly obvious from His own words, " Where any two or three are gathered in my name I will be in their midst." Of course He helps, interacts, with them that are part of His body, how could He not without suffering some pain. They are His body.

As for the video I didn't look at it as I have seen lots of well meaning acts by people in churches. I thought they were wrong then and still think the same. There has been given to us a method by which we communicate with God and I just happen to think we stick by that.

It would make more or less the same amount of sense to me if the love of Darth Vader pulls her through, given the fictious nature of the character who only exists in her mind.

I find more of God in Mozart's piano concerto no. 9 with nothing but music than I could ever find in any Lifehouse song with a guy dressed as (what I assume is to be..) Jesus with a purple sash on him. That was a poor skit in general, if your going to make a skit that is supposed to move people at least make it good.

Portraying Jesus in such a way outside of the telling of a biblical story is kind of weird to me. I was ok with Jesus Christ Superstar even, because it at least followed, somewhat, a part of the Bible. But Jesus literally in a physical state rescuing some random chick from a death with a gun is just flat out dumb (not to mention extremely ineffective in my opinion) lol.

It depends on what you want to believe and read. Religion is a fun philosophy.

Yea, these skits imo, are fairly boring, perhaps it is because for the most part vices are not a problem for me. Also it is a means of proselytization, but I prefer a more personal means of ministry.
Yes I agree fiyenyaa, the hell house "scare you into Jesus" stuff is crap, my local one is quite aggressive, they use rats I hear.
@CtrlAltDe1337: a good definition of Jesus is both of those; Jesus saves and solves your problems (not to be confused with other "gospels" like health & wealth etc. aka, become a Christian and get a Mercedes.), and he was crucified I think we all agree on that, even helm (with crucifixion at least).

On speculation they probably crucified a Jewish holy man of some description at some point to get the whole Jesus ball rolling.

    @Helm,

Why the virulent HATE ON for Christianity?

You're probably a former christian, in name not at heart, who got burned by the so called "Christian" establishment. You know, I too was burned by the "Christian" establishment then I understood that Jesus loves people, NOT "establishments." Dynamic relationship with God, not calcified religion is where it's at, my friend.

Your "Logo," a pagan/occult symbol is probably something you yourself no nothing about.

You need to be careful regarding what you post, my friend, when it comes to personal beliefs.
    A very touchy subject indeed.

Neo-pagans, like yourself pehaps, know little to nothing regarding their pagan roots/beliefs.

Since when did I have virulent hate for Christianity? At worst I'm befuddled along with the other Abrahamic religions. It's probably the best one out of the three to be fair though.

I'm not sure if I really ever was a Christian, I may have some kind of vague belief in it before the age of say 12 but I'm not too sure.

I do have a strong love of nature so I feel I have some affinity toward that pagan end of the religious spectrum. I have five pointed star/stag head pendant it's an ancient Celtic symbol. I also have a Viking drinking tankard.

I'm only a pagan in spirit but not in practice.

How is showing a crappy video virulent hate? It's poking fun, gentle criticism at most.

I read in a book once this crafty little phrase that I thought had a nice ring to it; "Judge not lest ye be judged."
I wonder if that covers a whole host of baseless assertions that turn out to be mostly untrue.

It was Darth Vader's (pbuh) sacrifice that allows us to live our lives of love. He's a very under-rated deity.

To Glorify God one needs only to use words. Songs, and such are nice, but not needed. I've never had to dance around to make a point, or prove anything.
