    Default Poor Govenors

I've noticed that while my original generals and family members tend to be good govenors, the second tier of family members tend to be bad govenors. Am I causing this, or is it generally random? As soon as my faction leaders grandchilden come to age I cannot place them in towns because they drop the public order too much and even castles cannot take some of them. I read not to build taverns and pleasure palaces because that will give them bad traits but these guys have just come of age. Any suggestions?

Another thing, how come when your extended family has a marrige proposition its normally a guy 40 years old? Seems a bit old for a teenage princess.

Its fairly random the gaining of traits at a start although certain traits have a bonus if the father has had the trait . the generals you start with have decent stats as they have been doing it a while these fresh faced youngens you have dont make good govenors why there punk kids

You need to build these guys up they may also be terrible battle generals but to battle you must send them to train these men without such your breeding a royal family of cowardly lazy womanising bad taxing etc etc (all the bad traits which will keep down your family line) send them out to fight place a priest in there army also what this does is the more they fight the higgher there loyalty becomes(and army command) with the priest in the army they gain piety , and depending on your actions in and at the battle end chivalry or dread . Basicly the 3 factors in running a city are loyalty piety and chiv or dread. work your generals and they will work for you sit back expecting your family to breed super heroes then you will end with a royal family not fit to rule an out house

As for the marriage thing lets remember it is medieval and in these times no one said boo when a man of 40 plus married a 16, 18 year old girl and in a royal family marriages of convience where most common eg marrying your daughter to gain favour with a rich powerfull lord to increase your royal power love i fear ment very very little although the higher your daughters charm the more likely a good suitor will be found for her.

That makes sense because I've typically kept them in towns to maximize earnings. Never thought to keep a priest with either. The few who come with 3 or more command stars I normally use for command of my stacks. So if I have say my king in a stack and also another family member, does the lesser family member benefit from success on the battlefield?

`Nope just the man in charge so early i would use small stacks against any rebels you see running around to give these poor young guys some experience you will find they quickly get better though so before long they will be a 4 plus star general with decent piety loyalty and hopefully have picked up some good traits along the way

Also with leaving a general in as govenor of cities it good idea to once every few turns or so to step him outside the city for the end turn , it will greatly lessen his chance of getting bad traits also where there is a govenor in a city and the city population can handle it make the tax setting high greatly increases good tax traits like good with money good trader etc

I think the game is alot deeper in its tactics than just fight kill burn collect money and getting the best you can from your kingdom and its rullers is key to playing at Vh/VH to trully test your empire building skills
