It seems that CA will be leaving out blood again with this game from what i can tell with the previews. Although I am immensely happy with what i am hearing about this game I cannot help feeling a flight dissapointment but i guess the guys in CA have good reason to leave it out. Even the slightest pink mist developing from where they were shot would be nice. They already have the bullet trajectory system which should be able to tell where it has hit someone.

Their reason will be the same one as it was with ETW, something about system resources and hitting a mainstream politically correct vibe so they don't offend the football/soccer moms.

I doubt eight year olds would have an interest or understanding in the Napoleonic wars, nor would most teenagers (except young history buffs).

imo I would just like a "slightest pink mist developing from where they were shot".. maybe a little more when using canister etc. But I actually dont like all the blood mods so much. when people get shot blood is flying around like a horror movie. I mean.. I dont know everything about guns .. but I dont think there would be SO much blood(flying around in the air) when you get shot by a lead ball.

I stay away from those mods as well. Its like in Left4Dead, when you shoot a Zombie with an ak47 their bloody arm comes off!

    Hehe... "bloody" arm? Get it?

People did not spurt blood when shot with a musket. They fell down and bled a lot, but it did not shoot out. It would be more like the bloodstains on units in M2TW.

And with blood and gore the Total War series would become the new Left 4 Dead 2. I don't know if anyone knows what happens when you get shot with a cannonball, but it would not get past Australian censors.

^^^ in general no, a gun shot wound from a musket will not cause blood to spray. If the bullet ruptures an artery though their most likely will be some sort of spurt. Nothing nearly as much as depicted in the blood mods though. The only way that could really happen is if the person was shredded by canister or blown up by round shot.

Yeah, most of this movie, game blood business is a completely fake load of crap dreamed up by juveniles who think blood is cool. Any blood mod should be realistic. Even if you get blown to smithereens most of the blood would pour from the limbs after they landed on the ground...and seep into the dirt where you wouldn't see much anyway. This spray business is mostly crap, unless someones head is literally blown apart.

btw.. in medieval2 the soldiers clothing became bloodier and bloodier the longer they had been fighting. How hard is that to make in empire and napoleon -.-

Personally I don't mind not having blood. Hearing reports of the bloodiness at Borodino makes me either so go completely for realism (soldiers putting their feets out to stop slow rolling cannonballs and having their legs shattered and ripped off the limbs, cavalry membrs all breaking bread together when a cannonball hit one of the soldiers in the head taking it clear off and a soldier taking his bread, wiping the brains off, and eating the bread, etc.) or just go with no blood. A little blood splatter on the uniform upon dying would look kind of goofy in my opinion. A good compromise, however, would be to have blood splatters on uniforms (nothing excessive and gruesome to make it unnecessarily violent and M rated) and to have an option to turn it off.

And the blood mods for Empire are just ridiculous, when a soldier gets shot they spray blood like a crack just opened in the Hoover Dam.
Forget the Cod this man needs a Sturgeon!

They had a good deal of blood in MTW2, oddly though it's absent in E:TW.

There does appear to be a slight amount of gore, possibly, but no blood yet. However, will you really bother zooming in on a major battle just to observe a miniscule amount of blood?

There almost certainly will be unlockable blood, just like in Empire. It's just a simple ratings ploy - the release version contains no blood spatters to ensure an acceptable rating.

Probably too difficult for CA to code
The extra development time will allow us to finalize and polish Empire, making it the most accomplished and epic of the Total War series." said Kieran Brigden, Studio Communications Manager at The Creative Assembly. "There is a great deal of anticipation around Empire: Total War and we want to ensure that it is the benchmark for strategy games upon its release.

And yet unpaid modders who do these things on their own can beat CA.

Weird actually, it's okay to buy a game where you can conquer the world, slaying innumerable men in the process, be a dictator and repress the people into poverty.

But once a little bit of blood is seen, the age rating goes skyhigh .. What do they expect ? Soldiers losing liquid happiness & love once shot ?

Kieran Bridgen said in one of his last interview that putting blood in NTW will not happen, that it wasn't a priority for them. Besides he said that was a thing easy to do for modders. I think you will not have blood in the next tw games either.
I think, as all of you, that blood is necessary for a war game. Perhaps they don't want to put blood for the age limit (now it's 16): perhaps it would be 18 with blood, so less customers...

I would disagree. RTW was and is still hugely popular. No blood at all.

You are right but blood was only introduced in M2:TW and I think the fans were quite content with the addition..
