2 Products Reviews Little Corsican, total war

    20.01.2010 | | Author: Hauke

First impression: 88 - 92% even played: Yes, the sky is blue on this 16th June 1815, and the birds chirp in the trees near the river Ligny. But the peace is deceptive, in the adjacent village to keep the Prussian Field Marshal Blucher's troops entrenched around it, and Napoleon Bonaparte's Grande Armée, the French tricolor flag proudly on display. A horse neighing, at once suggests a cannonball in the ranks of the French infantry, and while we do fly the soldiers, enters the cannon in our ears. We need to quickly make a decision before the Prussian artillery, our troops are very demoralized.

    Battle on all fronts
Even at first glance a few changes since the previous fall, "Empire: Total War" in the eye. As would be the one loading screen with the tactics of the card and tidy and purifies interface. Much more interesting is the list of the troops before the battle of our single playable preview version.

Waiting for the battle: Already, the new loading screen presents you a card with the tactics of troops.
In the area rich in branching streams and bridges the two armies face each other and take advantage of the geographical circumstances in their favor. Instead of sending as of "Total War" used to just battle lines with a concentrated array of all the troops into battle, have put together various organizations along the shore.
As soon as the battle rages, it turns out that the times in which the AI is focused on a single focus are over. Instead, shots are fired at different locations of the front curve and troop movements happen simultaneously at several key points of the battlefield.

    Time out for a tactician
This provides the number of units on the battlefield at the first attempt that Napoleon's army is wiped out by the well-entrenched forces. This is not least the historically accurate artillery strengthened responsible.

The battles now take place simultaneously at different locations. The AI is focused not only on a focus.
The heavy guns delete entire battalions, with a few volleys, or drive them to flight. No wonder that the guns be defended at the mercy of Blucher's troops. Even at normal difficulty, the second lightest of the four stages, we will be wiped out quickly if it is not adapted to all fronts, the command position. If you want to minimize this loss, it is essential to regularly use the pause function, and to have some idea about what's going on. Luckily can still be issued commands during the break. This possibility, we have experienced as a strategist for the first time in a game of not exactly unpretentious "Total War" series used excessively.

    Harte, French earth
In vain, we have been looking for another feature, the lookout announced. While tearing at the first presentation in Hamburg, exploding artillery shells holes in the soil, which slowed the advancing troops, the bullets bounced off our preview of the hard, sun-dried earth of Northern France. Whether the weather or local circumstances, or whether the mechanism is not yet implemented, is in the realm of speculation, but we tap the former.

But see, even without crater "Napoleon" from now outstanding. The animations have been significantly refined, the units of the different countries seem to be different actually clearer in appearance and abilities, and especially the battles look amazing. If the soldiers are thrown in their number of cannon balls in the air or collapsing under the gunfire of the line infantry, it looks like even without the blood very credible. These trumpets, beat the drums and shouting the captain that there is an acoustic delight.

    Corsica today, tomorrow the world
The first two rounds of the battle of Ligny ran unexpectedly and historically unrealistic. Despite years of "Total War" experience we had to plug in bitter defeat. In fact, Blucher retreated without cash in too heavy losses, and managed to march to Waterloo in the two days that followed so quickly that he was surprised and a little of Napoleon so that Corsicans with the Alliance of English, British and Prussians under Wellington's leadership his decisive defeat missed.

On the optics was again markedly filed. Also contributing to the strong acoustic great atmosphere.
But before it could come so far perfected the famous Asterix French for years in addition to his entrepreneurial daring and tactical brilliance.
Typical "Total War" is the round strategy mode, which provides real-time battles outside the draft. In the tutorial we have explained the broad outlines, but here is much the same. Armies are moving train to train and cities will be expanded in order to investigate, raking in money and recruit new units. These buildings can be converted, if they place more important for organizations to block. Thus, a port is to the shipyard, to put warships to blockade of a trade route through piracy on the keel.

The thoroughly revised and real-time battles of diplomacy developed area make for even more depth.
    Hostage diplomacy
Also on the diplomacy screen, we were able to get a first look. The negotiation options now include the ability to negotiate hostile acts. Common trade embargo, for example, can exert pressure on opponents. In action, we could not do this under the tutorial campaign, however.

But have also seen without anything, we can say that "Napoleon: Total War" leaves after the first few hours of playing an impressive game. In particular, the thoroughly revamped real battle to win huge in the draft and uncluttered interface looks more accessible than ever before. If the first impression is confirmed, we believe it is free to Wellington at Waterloo: "I wish it was night or Napoleon would come! "

nice I'm a bit worried about the missing craters and I hope cannons won't be too powerful, however if the ai isn't scripted ca has done a great job
edit just saw that the prussians had grenadiers (grenade icon above the unit) seems like they still carry grenades

Shame the Generals unit doesn't have more variation in it, a few Chassuers a cheval de la guard for example.

Ah sorry, someone know how I can change the tittle of my Thread (21 screenshots)

Did you notice that in the little screen on the right side, units don't have the same shape (cavalry, artillery, infantry...)

Pleas use the edit post function. Thx

    Hesus.
