Towns & cities disappear on campaign map!

I have recently re-installed Empire Total War.

When I started it up to play, I selected United Provinces and the campaign map loaded up. At first everything looked fine but as the adviser greeting moved the camera around, all of the towns and cities disappeared. The flags were still there as were the units but the towns were all gone.

I could still click on them but couldn't see them.

I have tried re-installing again, playing as different nations. Steam automatically updated the game for me.

What should I do?

Just realised that in battled, buildings do the same. It didn't do any of this when the game was installed before!

I had the same problem,

I solved it by installing an old driver for my nvidea card, the latest one didn't work, had to try a couple before I found one that did.

that would make sense, i installed a new driver the other day. thanks for the tip, ill let you know if it works for me.

Tried this in Medieval, it's as Pom says you haven’t installed a driver

I had this problem with nvidia 195.62, and rolled back.

Has anyone tried the drivers released Jan 19th (196.21)? or the beta drivers released Jan 27th (196.34)?

I can confirm that the disappearing town bug is present on my game with 195.62, and also with 196.21 unfortunately.

My hardware is Vista 64-bit with a GeForce 8800 GTS.

Incredibly frustrating really because I have a slow Internet connection and I have to download 150MB each time for these drivers. I will keep going backwards through the drivers until I find the most recent working version.
