    Icon3 Statistics of v1.03.1 units (ALL FACTIONS)

    Hi all,

    Here is something i would like to share with you guyz, those are the statistics for ALL FACTIONS for the v1.03.1 units, presented in an excel sheet, with most important stats and some scores calculated following some house made rules.

    Feel free to use it as you want, it is neither protected nor using any macros.
    If you don't like it, then pass your way; else feel free to add suggestions to improve it.

    Here's a quick preview (there is an auto-filter on Orcs faction, but ALL FACTIONS are there):

    Notes: there 3 scores given on top of the most usual stats:
    • ATTACK: measure on how the unit hit hard - range 0 to 20
    • DEFENSE: measure on how a unit can stand the ground - range 0 to 20
    • QUALITY: overall quality of the unit - range 1 (worst) to 5 (elite)
    Those scores are calculated following complex and i hope good formulas.


    All of this stuff is made through a hand made 4GL piece of code that automatically translates the EDU file, then i add some formulas on top of this.

    Absolutely, i could program something to make it work in the opposite way if you are interested.
    Although in this case, we need to add some columns to cover all the missing stuff.

    Ok i will program something in 4GL, but it is something i use in my office work, through our internal UNIX platform and Progress v9.1 databases.

    So what i propose you is that i will modify the current version to extract ALL stuff in excel.
    Then you can use it to tweak / adjust / create units, send me back the xls file, so i can run my program (it is a .p, compiled into a .r) and send you the generated EDU file back to you.

    What do you think ?

    that is not good... we change EDU often...

    What Fourth generation language are you using there is hundreds! Anyway your better off with a 3GL aka High level language I reckon mend C# although your on UNIX. If you want I could see if I could whip something up, but right now I'm making my own Proprietary encryption

    Well, as far as I can see there's only Orcs&Goblins, which suits me fine.
    It's a perfect tool foor personally editing the EDU, I must say.
    For instance, it confirms my suspicion that the 'squig riders' are severely underpowered and, when compared to other units, offers a clear indication as to how they could be made more of the Night Goblin elites that they are supposed to be (even when playing Orcs I like to play with several armies consisting mostly of Night Goblins, so NG elites are a must).

    I think that, if you would create this for every faction, many people would be very gratefull.
    I'd suggest sticking to faction specific screenshots (makes it easier to work with for the casual user), and to keep it up to date when a new patch or hotfix comes out.

    Thanks my friend, but stay tuned, i get good news for you: this Excel sheet is for ALL the factions, just that i have put a filter on Orcs faction to ease the read of it. SO you can see stats for dwarves for example and they are not the poor underpowered fellows everybody seems to be complaining for. They are in fact very strong.

    So check for the auto-filter arrows on the left you can filter on anything you want.

    I use Progress 4GL from QAD. In fact i am very at ease with it since i use it in my daily job; that's why i made it in this old language.
    If you are willing to translate this into a language that windows accept (and therefore that can create a .exe file), then i am very interested and it would be really appreciated. I can put here the piece of code (attachments).

    There is one column "morale" but it is currently hidden (all columns cannot display on the screen so i have hidden some).

    @all: let me know if anything is missing (and some parameters are voluntarily missing obviously which does not normally affect much the measure of a unit quality).

    Thanks mate!
    Those stats show pretty good idea of a faction strenghts and weaknesses, although they remain what they are: stats. And you can obtain very different results on the battlefield.

    One thing is clear: Bright wizards are maybe the best unit of the game
