Discussion welcome.
iN France the release is the 26. so The 26...
I am an unofficial CA Beta Tester, so I have it on pre-order because it's my duty. After ETW's release I think it became official that I was indeed an unofficial tester, because CA were asking for info with the bugs etc.
lol me too!
...except that I hate it when developers make me a beta tester after I've paid for their products, I don't mind doing it before I buy it though
CA will never get pre-order or day 1 money from me ever again, and I'll only consider buying NTW if they can prove they are going to support it ($DLC$ is NOT the kind of support I'm talking about!).
If they were to actually fix Empire with a big patch/update (which they won't), I would buy Napoleon later that same day (so I won't).

I plan buy standard edition from play.com for £18 on the 24th (they say 26th release) so hopefully I get to see more player reviews before commiting. I cant believe anyone will buy special edition as it is £30 so the 6 units cost an insane £12 which will go down to 3 with a dlc. Finally I never bought the ETW dlc's as they weren't worth it I hope the NTW will have better less overpriced options.
The £30 edition gets you 10 extra units, both standard and Imperial get another 5 for free, and 1 extra if you pre-order. I agree it is a little over priced, £12 for 10 units and a booklet and map I think. Me I'm fairly afflulent, and I buy about two games a year, so what's an extra £12 , mines on pre-order 'caus I deserve the best'![]()
I voted "After reading reasonable critics on fanforums by long time customers and being 100% convinced of quality," but I guess I'm also thinking about bargain bins at this moment. I really don't know what I'll do yet--except to say I won't pre-order or buy it first day. I've had a look at the preview movies and stuff and, although I usually get quite interested with such games, I'm just not seeing much of a point to Napoleon at this stage.
I've read War and Peace, and I've been interested in the Napoleonic Wars at various times of my life, but Empire was the game I wanted to play. I wanted that to be brilliant with the different theatres and the clashes of civilisations and technologies ... . I'm just not going to get that from Napoleon, and aside from the bad taste left in my mouth from all the CTD-stricken Empire games, I'm just not excited about this game.
I got NTW pre-ordered from one of my family members (it was anonymous), not sure if they totally screwed up and got me standard version. I'm hoping for the limited edition since I'm a poor American.

One question, when you pre-ordered it, you are not sure to receive the DVD on the release day, no?

$40-50 bucks for hours of enjoyment... that's like 3-5cents an hour!!!
anyways... $40-50's could give some of the flamers in here the actual right to complain![]()

I'm waiting for great feedback on it from community members before I touch this one. "professional" reviews cannot be trusted.
The extra development time will allow us to finalize and polish Empire, making it the most accomplished and epic of the Total War series." said Kieran Brigden, Studio Communications Manager at The Creative Assembly. "There is a great deal of anticipation around Empire: Total War and we want to ensure that it is the benchmark for strategy games upon its release.![]()
