Default Why isn't there a guide by TW?

I was wondering...Why isn’t there a guide delivered with the game? Why do we have to search out for ourselves?
I mean...when I first played the game, I thought; fight the enemy...fight everyone...plunder...burn...murder...whatever!!! And it became to easy...
Now, thanks to this forum, I realised the game goes deeper, and it actually became more fun considering reputation, traits, macromanaging like you guys like to call it...
But this raises the question; Why isn’t there a guide by Total War??? Too easy?

Because it's their job to supply the game, not to feed you with a teaspoon how to play it.
It's up to you to play the game and play as you see fit. Several players have started their own guides, but it's not the game suppliers' job to help you with it aside for technical difficulties.
Besides, what fun is it when the guys who know the game best tell you exactly what to do? Ruins the entire experience in my eyes.

You are right, it IS fun to search and discover by yourself, and if they had made a guide, there wouldn’t be a lot of fun reading this forum, isn’t it? And I’m not saying they had to explain everything, just lead us in the right direction...
I mean: if I had not found this forum, I wouldn't had the slightest idea that the game goes so deep...
I think you guys have to admit that it is a complicated game (if you want to play it right, I mean).

No, not really. Certain mods really add depth to it though.

    You underestimate it.
With no doubt, this game is quite complicated and supplies several levels of gameplay and several depths of strategies, yet there is also no doubt that properly done mods supply even more and strengthen those two (Examples: SS, DLV). This game is truly one of a kind.

Look, I’m playing Medieval sinds two months. I played Rome for two years though. And concerning diplomacy, in Rome I only thought it was something you could try, but surely would not work -
Only at the end of these two years I succeeded to make a ‘client kingdom’- I thought diplo was a dead thing, so I didn’t bother...
Now in Medieval, I discovered that diplo can work (or better than in Rome). But it depends on many things... You have to consider many things... That’s what I mean with ‘deeper’.

Yeah, I know it could go deeper, on familie-side, cities, etc...

They don't give you a guide, so they can use vague descriptions for things. For example "these mighty two-handers are strongest at their charge and can plow through the enemy ranks" rather than simply "Italian Spear Militia beat Armoured Sergeants" and so forth.
