    I have heard other complain about this and have experienced myself numerous times. I usually take the general in question out with an assassin and then attack his army to avoid the crash. I should not have to do that.

    The game parses for text and than pictures after some campaign battles. When it cannot find them we get our CTD.

    I would say it is definitely a game breaking bug and wonder if anyone has found a solution to it.

    I take it has something to do with descr_event_images.txt

    If this is the case than isnt it possible I can quote out the trigger lines?

    I wonder which one that would be?

    Sometimes it is a faction leader and other times it can be someone else in the family tree.

    I was able to prevent the crash by quoting ;

    out two lines in the descr_event_images.txt

    1) image___________center battle_generaldeathenemy

    2) image___________center militarenemydisband

    Another one that is related to post battle crashes is the loading logo failure.

    I was able to neutralize this one by going to descr small factions file and quoting out all the loading logo lines for each faction. So the game would not parse for missing tgas and text entries.

    Quite a hassle and all this is only a band-aid until the bugs get fixed.

    Thanks VCh, I will try this out right away.

    Hm I deleted the two lines from descr_event_images.txt and I still get a CDT after battle, am I doing something wrong?

    I never told anyone to delete a line. Only to ; the beginning of some particular lines.

    Still I have experienced a post battle crash involving the death of both the faction leader and faction heir to Sylvania yesterday.

    This thread is more to let mod team know what in the game scripts may be causing the crashes.

    Is it translation related? I don't know the answer to that. It may be that some character pictures are missing or some loading pictures. Or the text lines that go along with those pictures.

    Possibly conflict in the scripting when both faction leader and faction heir die in a battle.

    Spent 40 minutes taking Karak Varn from the goblins. Huge battle. I won. When the strat map started to load back up I got a crash.

    Wasted 40 minutes for nothing.

    All these post battle crashes mentioned by many players are obviously related and I hope this major bug issue will be addressed as a priority.

    Yes

    However I am thinking there are some missing files. It is all related to the transition between battle to strat map. The game parses for a lot of data when it transitions between the two.

    I downloaded everything fresh yesterday and confirmed that the download is complete to the exact byte count.

    If I experience the same problems as my other install than this must be a bug common to the game itself and not just on my end.

    Thats good to here to are making some headway through process of elimination, I find most of my crashes occur with the spawned scripted Characters, when I auto resolve it works (though my general is spanked in the process) its the only way around this particular issue.
    Is it still worth while to edit those lines?
    I have started a Kislev Campaign my Reikland Campaign stalled at turn 60 due to a crash linked to Rebel phase of the turn process.
    I want to say for myself and I am sure many others that we greatly appreciate your efforts to assist the CoW team in dealing with issues like this and improving overall stability.
    ON another not have you considered merging your EDU sub mod with Admiral thrawns?
    I am using both as they offer excellent tweaks...

    They are welcome to use my EDU and my ideas so long as I receive acknowledgment/ credit.

    All the effort trying to fix this is a waste I suppose.

    It would be nice to help the COW team fix these campaign bugs.

    However it would be like a lawn mower mechanic trying to help a rocket engineer fix the very rocket he constructed.

    The log said symbols 8 missing but than later said it found it.

    I checked the lead and found a symbols 8 icon but when I opened it it was blank.

    I go to the proper directory through the banners folders and to my discovery the symbols8 is missing.

    symbols 8 is a banner displayed sometimes when a rebel army is beaten.

    Not sure if this is global with the mod for everyone or just my installment.

    I copy pasted 7 over and renamed it to fill in the missing tga and dds

    i have the same problem with missing symbols8.tga. this method is working?

    I have such crashes with chaos undivided scripted spawned armies. Mainly when these armies siege my settlements. The game crashes after the battle regardless of whether I win or lose, ad it's every single time. However, open field battles with these sripted spawned armies do fine, I don't experience any crashes. Maybe these crashes have something to do with settlement switching hands? Oh and I did notice they mainly occur when the enemy generals taking part in these siege battles die.
