What kind of Allies are these?!

I tried to make this topic a minute ago but my internet crashed so I have to do this all over again.

Long story short.
I'm allied with Spain.
France declared War on me.
Spain won't go to war when I ask them to. (even when I offered them everything I had!)

That's vanilla AI for you. There isn't much you can do except try to force your ally to help you in a battle. You can do this easily with cheating actually. Have one of you stacks near an enemy army, then move one of your allies stacks on an adjacent tile. Attack the enemy army and your ally will be forced into the battle with you and will also be forced to declare war on your enemy.

Thanks. I've also run into a second problem. I've recently sallied out and have repelled the foolish Venetians. Problem is, their ladders appear to made out of 100% diamond encrusted reinforced titanium seeing as after TWENTY MINUTES of constant hacking and slashing at the ladders they didn't even take 1% damage.

Ladders cannot be destroyed.

Yes they can, but only if they've been put against the wall. If they have been dropped on the ground, then it's impossible to destroy them.

Well you need to remember that Sapin is close to France and maybe they don't have the Military power or the bank roll to help you, or they are having they're own problems with either Portugual or The Moors. You need to keep in mind that you are not the only thing moving on this map. Would you help them if you were bankrupt and stuck a war with HRE and Polan???

Yes Naz is right ladders can't be destroyed only the Towers and Rams.

Well my friend it doesn't happen often but I saw it happen a couple of times, it's more frequent when you and your ally have that faction as a common enemy.

There is actually a setting in the campaign Ai that forces your allies to go to war with your enemies but i wouldnt use it as it often leads to all out war across the map

find this line in the campaign_db_ai

<trusted_ally_enemy_auto_war bool = "false"/>

change the false to true and every time you declare war your allies will declare on them also .

There are several settings in the Ai tthat will also greatly increase the chances that an AI will come to your aid in battles also

Much has beenfound working with CAs AI that works far more effectively than how they left it
