    Icon3 Capturing Armies

Is it possible to implement some sort of, well you all should know that after a battle you usually Capture troops from your opposing army. well you can chose to free them, ransom them, or slaughter them. You might know where I am going with this but I was wondering if somehow we could implement a conversion tab, where you can convert their troops to your army. I don't know if you guys think this would be kind of sweet, but I think it would be a large overhaul( well not large) to the game.
Feel free to criticise my idea (this idea may have been mentioned before) , I expect someone would, but remember, there is no right or wrong idea.

Sincerely I think it's stupid, almost in TATW, because :
    1) how do you convert orcs to human or elvish factions ????
    2) the med2 engine cannot allow this anyway

Quite a large overhaul as all the units would need a new skin for every faction (Meaning the amount of time spent in the skins departments just increased by *12) Or you would get the same skins. It could possibly be done by heavy scripting. I don't really like the idea though. Imagine Orcs fighting side by side with Elves or Ents.

I wouldn't say it's impossible. You can make a script which kills the unit at the enemy's side and adds them to your army with the same stats.

Well I guess you guys are right, but if I was an orc and had the choice to get slaughtered or join their army, I would do it in a heartbeat(join their army). but hey! im no orc

What do you think that the Elves would do with any Orc?
    Execute...

The Problem is; Even if one orc wanted to join the "good side" (HAHAHAHAH) they would simply kill him.

    elves meet orc:

hey i just defeated ur army, seems ur alive, ur the one who ate by best friend and his cousin, wanna join me?

    meaning its highly unlikely...

this could do for stainless steel or any other mod that has only humans, there it would be reasonable, but again, a lot of scripting ....

Ok, how about dwarves and orcs. No wait, humans and orcs! Damn!

You should propose this to a mod like Stainless Steel or something, it would make much more sense in any of the historical mods.

It would be totally sweet and awesome, like real ultimate power, or ninjas flipping out.

Hmm.. Lack of Maturity there but, wouldn't Rhun and Harad Qualify here.

One issue I see with this that I don't think has been mentioned yet is that it magnifies advantages and disadvantages. Even fights are what make a game interesting, not lopsided steamrollings... those are boring.

A script that gives reinforcements to the loser of a battle might be more interesting imo, since it can help account for imbalances and create a more fair game.

the only way it would be fair to have enemy troops in you army would be if you would be able to control units from a vassal states of yours, too bad CA never implemented a better vassal system in their games :/ this is being asked since rome

The EB team has more or less been able to implement that into there mod - if you built the right baracks in the given region then you were ablte to recruit regionals according to the AOR.

Even the mod "Fourth Age: Total war" had a system like that - if you captured the capital of another faction and built the highest level of baracks then you could recruit the "Assimilation unit" of the Faction whom it originally belonged to: the Reunited Kingdom could train Riders of the Mark in Edoras, or Rohan could recruit Gondorian Longbowmen in Minas Thirith.

A system more or less similar could maybe be implemented - althouhg I would be limited to factions whih are more or less culturally similar. (For example Mordor could recruit Uruk-Hai Pikemen or/and Uruk Corssbowmen if they controlled Isengard, Harad and Rhún coul recruit some medium units of another in Important cities of the other or some like that) - the problem would be that this would be a late game feature at best since these factions would be on the same "side" until they wipe out there rivals and only then can start waging war on another...
"He will die, but you will be destroyed" - Marion. From the AAR "Sword of Albion" by Theodotos I.

They are all allies and why would they take each others capital so you have to destroy lets say rohan with gondor to get their rohirim

Jean,Jean,Jean you are a moderator... you close threads because they have unnecessary comments in them or questions.
But here is proof that you do it to. Now ask yourself this " Was this really necessary? "
Just close the thread, so I can laugh my head off
