Cant play Rome Total War online in a different country

Hello everyone,

I can't seem to play RTW online, as I purchased the game online via steam in my home country, but am currently overseas studying. Does anybody have any solutions to this dilemma?

I think it's not the problem of steam but your internetconnection. I most of the times too have problems with internet connections. Is it a private (your own) connection or public (if you're using the connection of school or something). Also have you got the connection via a router or cable?

im using the university's connection, although i have no problem loading up my steam, chatting with steam friends etc. i can actually log into RTW online, but no other players show up on the lobby.

Are you referring to the "Chat Lobby" section? Did you try the "Friendly" section?

i have an excellent idea. Buy the disk version like in the good old days. that or get an exe crack. srsly why did you buy it from steam in the first place?

there was no 'friendly' or 'competitive' option available. the lobby section was blank.

no, that's really not an excellent idea, why would i want to buy 2 of the same thing now that i've already bought it on steam? can't change what has already happened.

I have played RTW online using my laptop in 3 different countries so yes it work, but I have an old disc from 2004 not that crappy disc.

was on discount price though, that's mainly why i bought it. got RTW and BI for 2.39 USD

It deserves to be worth more, being the classic that it is. That multiplayer is legendary and the Mods are good too...
