Haha WOW. I wish i could do that. Not even in a million years. Bravo!![]()
Although it's a siege defence against Muslims as a Christian, it's a very nice one.+ rep!
BTW: Is that guy on a horse your captain?
The Enemy of Human Souls
Sat grieving at the cost of coals;
For Hell had been annexed of late,
And was a sovereign Southern State.
Impressive my friend, nicely done!
Hi Guys
Thanks for the comments, indeed the guy on the horse is the remaining captain/general. The settings are VH/VH and the castle that you see on the background is Gaza.
My army:
circa 50 crossbowmen
circa 50 Jerusalem knights divided in two groups one 10 and the other 40
full group of gold chevron mounted sargeants
The enemy as you can see on the pic had 1021 men. The made a ram and ladders and assaulted me the next turn after they sieged me.
Positions:
The crossbowmen on the gates, 40 Jerusalem knights on the wall, 10 Jerusalem knights in the victory square of the citadel and the mounted sargeants behind the gates.
The battle:
When the battle began I sallied forward with my mounted sargeant, i let them smash in the enemys right flank, effectively killing two archer units, circa 240 enemy casualties. This assault left around 15 mounted sargeants alive (and offcourse the captain). And then retreated back to the castle walls to attack their ram. The reason why I attacked the ram was to slow it down so that the fire arrows of the castle could do their work. The Saracen unit allready had casualties because of the walls and crossbowmen firing upon them. When the mounted sargeant attacked them in the back this caused them to rout.
In the meantime on the left wall, I orderd my Jerusalem knights in defencive position, they were taking very few casualties and when I orderd the crossbow men to fire on them this caused them to rout and leave the wall only to find my captain and his men next to the ladders.
Another Saracen unit came forward to pick up the ram, wich resulted in another charge of the captain, at the cost of all of his men. But it had worked, this attack stalled them yust enough to let the towers do their work and put it on fire. The enemy had only the ladders left to get in. I orderd my captain to seek cover behind the castle walls.
The knights of Jerusalem had thrown the ladders down. The enemy was able to sneak inside by following the captain, wich resulted in the los of the gatehouse message. I orderd the remaining 30 knights down to reconquer and defend the gate. Again I orderd them in defensive position it was 30 knights against 120 militia spearmen fighting it out in the gate. The arrows, the boiling oil and the knights morale really crushed this unit.
My men had allready inflicted around 925 casualties by now. But the end wasn't in sight yet. The enemy still had a some 120 spear militia wich they hadn't used and their captain wich was part of a mounted cavalry unit 60 men. I only had 25 knights left to defend the gate, my captain and 25 crossbowmen. The cavalry unit attacked and the knights. Again the arrows, boiling oil and morale was key to victory in this skirmish. I defeated all their cavalry and killed some of the remaining spearmen at the cost of the 25 knights and all of my crossbowmen (I orderd them down to fight man to man).
Right, now how does one kill 90 spear militia with only 1 captain and 10 Jerusalem knights (wich I had in reserve in the citadel remember)?
The final part of the battle, at the time the enemy's captain hit the floor at the loss of all of my units at the gate I orderd my captain to the citadel. I orderd the 10 knights of the citadel to take a defensive positions in front of the gate of the citadel. The saracens came storming towards them. When they could see the white in eachothers eyes I disabeld the guard mode and orderd them to a full assault. The enemy who was allready very tired and shaken snapped and they routed => Mission Accomplished...

Good to see the Crusaders kicking ass.
(Tehehe, I'm strongly atheist, but I still admire those Catholic knights for their kickassery.)
On topic: Bloody well done.
What was the location?
EDIT: My bad, I had just woken up.![]()

Yeah it's pretty nice, but as i see, you have fortress, so it's only nice/impresive, not magnificent
