Icon4 Elf, Nazgul and diplomacy questions.

Hey guys, well like in the movie(Fellowship of the ring) when The last alliance of elves and men attack mordor, you know when those elven swordsmen with shields. I was wondering if we added shields onto the swordsmen would it boost there defence lv???? And could idk if we could add it but i dont care if we dont, just a question.

Ok im gondor, and Mordor sadly found the one ring, so it was turn 80 and i had the biggest army ever, and Mordor called a attack on Dale, and Eriador So Ruhn,Isenguard,Harad,And Mordor Destroyed both factions, and for some reason all my alliances such ass Rohan, HE,SE, Dwarves army squads just started started just coming into Minas Tirith Area, And for some reason the Evil factions Declared war against HE,SE,Dwarves, And rohan and didnt even attack them instead they attacked minas Tirith. So do they automaticly come when a friend of them is about to be attacked??

Well on a youtube vid, my friend put a nazgoul on a dragon! And then he had a clip on a horse, can you even do this???

buddy, unfortunately you are confusing the Eldar spearmen (which had shields) with the eldar swordsmen (who used a two handed sword exclusively)

if you are however extremely interested in sword and shield elves you can try the mithlond sentinels. they are the best of the best of the best

No they usually mind their own business and actually don't give a rats ass if you die or not.

Agostino's Additional Units submod has both High and Silvan elf units with both swords and shields. From a balance perspective, I'd say adding a shield would (obviously) increase your defense due to shield but decrease your attack power, charge ability and defensive skill. The swords for the shield-sword unit are exactly the same size as those for the two-handed swordsmen, so someone wielding it with only one hand would be able to put far less power into their swings. Chraging is the same case, plus it's much harder to slash across when you have a shield. Defense skill would drop because having a shield weighs you down and make you clumsier and less agile. You get better protection against arrows though...

as he says accurately, you would be trading attack power for defensiveness.

but, i have to add, that was the whole point of the HE armies.

basically the army of the elves during the Last Alliance and, to a lesser extent, the third age, consisted of 3 areas: archery, Defensive infantry and Offensive Infantry.

the main battle plan for the High Elves consisted on a solid defensive line of Eldar Spearmen, while the archers, extremely well trained, would pepper the enemy ranks with arrows. it was only when the enemy offensive was stopped that the Eldar Swordsmen, with their two-handed swords which i cant remember the name of right now, would charge and destroy the enemy. as far as i know the elves made little use of cavalry in their campaigns, save as messengers or bodyguards i assume.

so, what im trying to get to is that you shouldnt just focus on pumping out Eldar Swordsmen. you should support them with Eldar Archers and Eldar Spearmen for an effective army.
