    Default Star Wars Books

I am a huge fan of the Star Wars movies, and i am now interested in reading the books in order to learn more about the Star Wars universe and the story in between the movies, i looked on Wikipedia and it seems that there are a ridiculous amount of books and so i was wondering if anyone here could lend me a hand in knowing where to start, or if i should just start with the very first book, thanks

Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy is the best place to start. It pretty much established the SWEU, though Splinter in the Mind's Eye technically started it. Then, go from there, chronologically.

I am the fourth person to agree.

Splinter of the minds eye was the first book I ever read on my own as a child, it's still one of my favourite books, I'm holding it right now.................creepy.

Also the Dark tide series is unavoidable, in a good way.

And I, Jedi by Michael A. Stackpole is outstanding.

I agree the Thrawn Trilogy is good, but Zahn doesn't really have a good sense of the scale of Star Wars. It kind of annoys me despite an otherwise good story.

I would start with the X-Wing Books, then go to the Thrawn Trilogy, I would recommend I Jedi and the Jedi Academy Trilogy after that.

Good one, I forgot about that.

Then after that (if you're still alive) the Dark tide series are nice and conclusive....................

I never read much into the books but the encyclopedias are a must. I have two older ones on characters and technology. Very interesting.

Leave it to the modder to perfect the works of the paid developers for no profit at all.

Yeah, they're nice and short but quite expensive.

I'm sorry I misspoke. The book I was thinking of was The Courtship of Princess Leia. Dunno why I was thinking Children of the Jedi, that was indeed a boring book.

All I remember from "The Courtship of Princess Leia" is that it seemed like an excuse to use rancors by the author. I might be confusing it with another book because it has been a long time since I have read any of them...but I am fairly certain rancors were in 'Courtship"
