    Default Many questions

    - When i played as Baktria in XGM, every time i offered ceasefire they refused, saying "We do not see why we should end this war", so i decided do use force diplomacy script when i take all their eastern cities. Then, once when i offered ceasefire, they replied in a different way "We do not have anything in return". Does this mean that i cracked them and they could be reasoned with?
    - WHY DO SARMATIANS DIE WHEN CHARGING THE BACK OF ANY UNIT THEIR CHARGE BONUS TURNS OUT TO BE A LOT LESS USEFUL AS THEY DIE LIKE EQUITES (sorry for caps but this is annoying)
    - In Barbarian Invasion, when i played as Vandals, none of generals could bet let to rule a city for 2 turns - they became corrupt with unbelievably high rate! Why did that happen?
    - Is Faction Leader special, who gets bad traits less often, or mostly doesn`t get them at all?

Uh, there were even a lot more questions, but i forgot which ones. Will be updated...

For diplomacy, ask them for something in return, like map info, or 100 denarii, they might accept it better.
Which Sarmatians are you refering to?
Maybe the Vandal have lots of money, if you are above 50000 denarii, you'll start getting bad traits.
The faction leader gain the same traits as the other generals (except for the faction leader trait), but he has a larger bodyguard force.

What a shame not to know that only the Vanilla Equites die that much, so it is Sarmatian Mercenaries with 10 charge bonus and 2-haned lance "kontos".
But they got bad traits WAY too fast. I did not have more than 20000 money Once upon a time i settled and the city had -1111 income, i couldn`t change that by making tax higher, but when i moved governor out, i was AWED, as it immediately turned into +income!!!
And i read somewhere that disinherited characters get bad traits more often and i never saw a faction leader with bad traits until i tried to deceive him with lots of assassination attempts.

Ok, i just remembered another question:

Why it is really difficuit to beat Comitatenses as Vandals? Their warlord can`t kill more than 10 charging their backs!!!

A decent sized Warlord unit should have no trouble taking out a Comitatenses unit, as long as it has some support from pretty much any other unit. You have to keep the Warlord in combat though. they're armed with swords, not spears, so they aren't armed for the charge, just the melee.
O merciful God, I have such need of Your mercy now. Not for myself, but for my knights, for this is truly their hour of need. Deliver them from their trials ahead and I will pay You a thousand fold with any sacrifice You ask of me. And if in Your wisdom, You should determine that sacrifice must be my life for theirs; so that they can once again taste the freedom that is so long been denied to them, I will gladly make that covenant. My death will have a purpose. I ask no more than that.

    Oh, really?! Greaaaaaat...

    More questions coming:
Does diplomat influence really affect the outcome of proposals?
How to beat Brutii urban cohorts as Julii?(They have weapon and experience tempe, if remember correctly, so these walking cataphracts turn into 2-layer armor wearing cataphracts! And there`s no access to slingers...)
I am besieging a Egyptian town with many scythe chariots, pontic cavalry and 3 hillmen. I can`t win the battle, because my hillmen waste themselves to rout some of enemy chariot archers and then escape. Their cities are also so damn tight, that there`s no way to avoid these 2(3?) Nubian Spearmen stacks. Can i win the siege, and how?

You may not notice it but yes it has, negociations will be much easier and you'll be able to gain more or lose less.

Spread the disease across the Brutii empire and damage their economy. That will do well.

Tip 1: Don't waste the hillmen, use them as backup and if the cities are so tight, group all your hillmen and march trough one street with them. Can you maybe give a screenshot of how many your troops exists of and how many the enemy has? Makes it easier to help you more accurately. (At least imo I can only think of tactics when i've full information about my own army)

Now, i guess, it would be good to put in this topic my collection of RTW odditions. Feel free to comment on all of them, but remember that there are still unanswered questions!
The first one is pretty obivous and is the most worthy to show. How on earth the Scipii would do that? Guess my alliance with Gaul forced them to think they are allowed as well to do anything they want.
The second one is just a character born with no traits. Just never had that happen before.
And the third one is not an oddition, but a battle experience. Once upon a time i noticed my hastati were under fire from something and i didn`t know what is it, even throught its towers. But after i discovered that...
And there was one where Macedons built a very big fleet and split it in a heap. You do not see that often. And with these ships they sailed to south, to take a Numidian city. What a pity that i didn`t have anti-aliasing off at time i took that screen...
Sorry for putting it as an attachment. Imageshack hit with its stupid changes in right time...
Oh, by the way, another question incoming, regarding the Roman picture of messenger with a scroll:I think there definitely are 2 pictures:in first one the messenger is young and the second one he is old. If the first picture exists, when it appears?

Thats not allowed to happen. Manius Julius in my game alway's gets traits, also every character gets traits because it say's something about their personality. I think something went wrong in loading the files

    *BUMP*

    Well...not really.

    - I STILL DO WANT TO KNOW WHY SARMATIANS ALWAYS DIE WHEN I CHARGE THEM IN ANY UNIT. Is that because i make their horses run when charging?

    - I made a new trigger for generals to get miserly and cheapskate traits when treasury is < 1500, but the game just crashed...whyyyyyy...

    - What faction usually wins first (the player faction is not counted in!) in the short campaign?

    - What is so hard about playing as Seleucids? I rushed Egypt and didn`t have any major problems any more...

    - Uh, i had a lot more, but i forgot... oh well. Why are there rock formations that look like Stonehenge on some battle maps?

There is nothing hard about playing as the Seleucids, they are one of the top factions, they just have a crappy start in early game, but the A.I. is so damn easy, it's not really a problem.

Try to walk them to the enemy... I never thuoght of that but it makes sense. Spear cavalry is for the charge and sword cavalry is for the fight

    I think Egypt.

My personal guess is because you're utterly terrible at using cavalry. Equites aren't Peasants - they don't die from being breathed on, so any of your 'problems' with them are purely self-made. Sarmatian Mercs are powerful heavy cavalry - they only reason I could see for you getting high losses from a charge is if they ran into a Set group of Spear-armed untis and got that high Charge bonus tossed in their faces.

Once upon a time i settled and the city had -1111 income, i couldn`t change that by making tax higher, but when i moved governor out, i was AWED, as it immediately turned into +income!!!
Presumably he had -Management traits, as those can create problems when you try to make those people manage cities.

A couple ways. First: Don't let the Brutii get Urban Cohorts. Second: Have more Urbans than the Brutii. Third: Actually use your own Urbans in battle somewhere else, so that if the Brutii actuall do use their Temples to Mars to get more XP for base units, your guys will also have XP. Regarding Weapons, use Scipii (Temple of Vulcan) or Barbarian Temples that you've captured and have +Weapon properties.

Maintain the siege until the city starves out. All you have to do if they sally is make sure you don't lose and the siege should be maintained. Bring up more units if necessary.

I made a new trigger for generals to get miserly and cheapskate traits when treasury is < 1500, but the game just crashed...whyyyyyy...
My guess is you suck at modding. Ask this question in the Modding subforum to get help implementing the trait change.

    - What is so hard about playing as Seleucids? I rushed Egypt and didn`t have any major problems any more...
Next time, don't rush Egypt. In fact, let Egypt build up and then start trying to fight everyone so you can expand. Instant difficulty ramp without changing campaign difficulty.

Why are there rock formations that look like Stonehenge on some battle maps?
Because they weren't allowed to put henges on all the battle maps.
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.

Yes. Cavalry often take casualties when they charge a unit, especially if they are a lighter cav unit. That is part of the price for doing lots of damage in the charge. If you don't want to lose the guys you can always do as you suggested and walk in, though this obviously wont have the same effects.

Of course this problem must be self-made, but several always die even when i charge a back of an unit! They just die and nothing can be done about it...

Except maybe that they are not suited to run from a long distance and i often press attack button twice...

Does the perfect_spy script have anything to do with spies always either dying or succeeding, making the badspy traits useless?

Cavalry (and infantry, for that matter) don't like to run long distances, true, and it does tire them out faster. If you click once, your cavalry will Walk until they get to the Charge Distance, whereupon they drop their spears into position and Run at the enemy. Actually, that's something to look for - are your cavalry actually dropping their spears into position when they're Charging, or do they still have them up in the air?
