DESCRIPTION:
BETTER WATER 1.0's a miniature mod that improves incredibly well the water detail in the battle map, through a Far Cry1-like graphics. The mod's not been created with the purpose to reach the extreme reality/fidelity of real-life water, because Med2 engine is hardcoded unfortunately for us. But i m sure you will enjoy Better Water 1.0 anyway as a different gaming experience
WHAT'S NEW:
- Water textures
- Bump map and shaders
- Waves
- Particles
- Real-time water surface reflections
- Movement of troops decreased from knee deep water, to reproduce real river crossing timing
- Water direction now follows his own bed, instead of vanilla unrealistic from up to down
- Water flow m/s speed increased more than vanilla

INSTALLATION:
Copy the folder and txts you find inside .rar and paste them to:
Medieval II Total War\data
UNINSTALLATION:
Whenever you dont like this mod, you can uninstall it simply opening data/BETTER_WATER/BACKUP_VANILLA_TXTS, copy the text files you find and paste them in data folder.
REQUIREMENTS:
BETTER WATER 1.0 to work needs that you run the game via io_file first and game unpacked
In game you have to set maximum video detail settings, to full enjoy the miniature mod
HOW TO CREATE io.file_first, NECESSARY TO LAUNCH THE GAME WITH UNPACKED GAME:
To create the .bat alternative exe of the game, io.file_first:
To do this, copy your medieval2.preference.cfg file and name the copy "mymod.cfg"
Then open "mymod.cfg" with a text editor and add the following to the top:
This will tell the game to use the files it finds in the data directory instead of those in the packs.[io]
file_first = 1
[log]
to = logs/system.log.txt
level = * error
It will also enable error logging to a custom error log, which is highly recommended, but not strictly necessary.
In order to be able to start your game using this config, create a new text file inside your MTW2 directory called mymod.bat
Open it (right-click, edit) and write this into it:
Congratulations. If everything worked, you should now be able to run the game with your unpacked files by starting mymod.bat
medieval2.exe @mymod.cfg
now open your data directory (inside your MTW2 directory) and delete or rename descr_geography_new.db and descr_geography_new.txt (this is important - if you don't do it, your game won't run)
COMPABILITY OF BETTER WATER 1.0:
- Totally compatible with Medieval II (100% ok)
- Totally compatible with Kindgoms but i have not tested it accurately
