I know the veterans are gonna go "Don't play it, its broken" but here goes...
Since I am feeling very much like a mascochist, I am going to try to actually win a Eriador Campaign. Any tips?

Noone would say don't play it, it's broken...
i would haveif this were another thread about eriador needing a rework or something liek that
My tip is get the elves as alleys, the dwarves as well and try to get as much rebel settlements as you can from the beginning
focus on roads, farms and markets first, and don't declare war on isengard if it isn't really neccessary...
You will be busy with the orcs of the misty mountains, from the very beginning (if you play on vh/vh)
more i can't say about it, no professional guide, just some tips in generell![]()
I have also noticed that their ranged actually isn't completely bad, especially the Hobbit Archers, and their Generals bodygaurd is actually useful heavy calvery which is a gaint advantage for the strategy I have come up with (A simple one).
Essentially, bombard them until they get into melee range, charge them with the fodder infantry, and then flank their ranged with the Dunedain Knights to break ranks, not to exactly incur alot of casulaties right off the bat. IF you can get them to run away (Even the melee) then they are no longer defending themselves and will usually have their back turned to the archers who can then cut them down quickly.
Is it just me but in the back of my mind I remember king kong saying he released a rework? I upgraded to v 0.4 ( finally )

Thanks, I somehow do not know why but I had something in my mind saying Hey Eriador Should Be Reworked in v 1.4 ( also how can it be 1.4 if on my loading screen it appears 0.4? )
Actually Eriador was nearly done when DG stopped working on it.
So a new version will be out soon?
Anyways, I also found reducing the tax rate to low on all the hobbit towns is a good idea, along with some of the smaller settlements. Any general in a city that has low Chiv and things that give them high squalor are used to fight, those with high Chiv and traits that reduce squalor go to the towns. Rather simple, and the lag in money is noticable, but the population growth soon makes up for the lower taxes (Since it gives you more money and your settlements up in the long run). Also lets you get the little settlements up to the point to where they can actually recruit quickly -and- develop their economy better. By turn 20, Hobbiton and Longbottum have upgraded.
Also remember their basic infantry (lumber men) arent that bad. I havent played 1.4 with them but in 1.3 they were able to take on trolls and heavy inf goblins. But use a mix dont stick to the same stratagy*
* on the stratagey thing (it gets boring but if you like it then kudos!)
