    Great news, along with a Join War, Break Alliance and Trade Embargo option in Diplomacy looks like we have mmore options than just paint the map

    I wonder if these new states which are created will be able to act completely independently, and even grow and expand to take over nearby rivels, or even rebel against the people who liberated them?

    True, we need to see how is this system applied to the rest of the game. Sure, this game feature might be nice, but it will be useless if the AI is retarded and couldn't make full use of this system.

    The conquered city should request to be reinstated to power with an offer in the diplomacy, such as reinstate our government and we will join your war and trade, and these options could be negotiated. Depending on how generous conquerour is the chance of sticking to diplomatic promises.

    i think it will be missionlike (capture these settlements and if you want you can create state ..... which will be your protectorate or ally so you can just programme the ai to always accept it)

    I dunno, the only question over a feature like this should be whether its in or not, since the pieces are all already there(emergent factions are already in Empire, as are protectorates) - so I'm comfortable being happy/thankful already. As far as execution, that'll depend on the new AI - hopefully we'll see protectorates acting in accordance to their protector's goals, rather than just paying them tribute every turn. Protectorates (especially liberated ones, which are essentially satellites) should function as an arm of the protector - not as a leech.
