    Icon5 Does this mod provide a hard challenge?

    I just got Med2 Gold, right now Im just playing the Americas campaign, might play Britannia or Crusades after that. The Americas Campaign is really easy, even on VH/VH difficulty, I don't think Im going to loose one battle (playing as spain). Im thinking about declaring war on my native allies to make the campaign harder. Anyway does this mod provide a hard challenge? Do you actually loose a lot of battles? Im going to play the grand campaign using this mod after Im done with the smaller ones. Also, is it conquer 45 proviences or 100-155? To win.

    This mod provides a great challenge, especially if you download the RR/RC compilation in the sub-mod thread. Good luck!

    But it's still no real challenge if you play a bit prudent which doesn't mean that it's no fun playing SS.

    Try playing RR/RC with BGRIV, and Teutonic Order or Kwarezm in Late Campaign, I think you will find it very difficult.

    I play your 6.2 RR/RC compilation (you just did an awesome job) with BGRVI.

    Sure playing Late Era Campaign with the named empires is close to impossible but with everything else (except of the moors) it's playable.
    Anyway my last post wasn't an offence. I like the gameplay how it is with the 6.2 RR/RC compilation. In my opinion TW is all about conquering and building up an empire but it shouldn't be too easy and I think your compilation has the right balance between consistant expanding and AI's resistance on VH/VH.

    i think its pretty hard the battles are better but still not the best however the fact that im always in a constant situation where france can throw unlimited armies at my stack and ireland, scotland and norway all decided to declare war it makes it pretty hard.

    SS 6.2 provides a much better challenge than Vanilla for sure. Playing as Moors on VH/VH and the beginning was fairly easy despite heavy resistance from Portugal and their allies early on, but end game good god they lack good units. The heavy infantry of the HRE/Ireland/Scotland can rape anything you put on the board. All you can do is pester with missiles and run em down with cavalry (just pull back out right away!). Luckily, playing the moors you have lots of cavarly and pestering units, .

    Well I´m playing RC/RR compilation early campaign HRE and decided that I would keep no alliances. I also decided I would not attack any nation until after 1200 only defensive battles, rebels were fair game though. I snatched Bern, Metz and Praag and gave Bolognia to Venice to make my empire more defensible. Now I´m at 1278 and having a really hard time holding on to my are. My plan of conquest after 1200 was pretty much shot when I got embroiled in four front war against Poland, Hungary, Danemark, France, Norway, Genoa and Sicily.....I´m barely surviving. So yes I must say that SS is tougher on the campaign map (I play VH/VH) if you don´t zerg which is far harder with RR. Battles I must say are a bit tougher, Danemark and Poland have managed to suprise me a couple of times with the strength of their stacks.

    Your point about not making early alliances to increase difficulty is a very good one. I find that if I make early and frequent alliances then the game becomes wayyy too easy (on VH/VH, RR/RC). I just build up, with all my friends around me, and then lose interest because by the time I choose to declare war I'm already the world's dominant power with an iron clad economy and unstoppable military. When I only make a few (as in 1) alliances, or make no alliances whatsoever, the difficulty increases dramatically.

    Playing Venice without making any alliances and being attacked early on by Genoa, HRE, Hungary and the Romans is certainly a challenge. I'm so use to preventing wars through diplomacy until everything is in my favour that being constantly pressured is a nice (and very challenging) change.

    @Enomine

    Yes after I figured out that the A.I never breaks alliances unless an ally of theirs attacks me and they have to pick one side, I stopped making alliances and the game became much harder. Now the only alliances I make are marriage ones but I cancel them on the diplomacy screen soon after.

    If you want a real challenge, as PB mentioned (love your mod btw, and eagerly awaiting new version for TATW), play Kwarezm late game and youll have Mongolian stacks right from the start. I also heard HRE was hard too.

    Also, try Third Age Total War with Gondor, with RR/RC. You might start to regret even trying, with Mordor sending trolls at you constantly and Harad as well.

    70 is the most common amount in long campaign. There are 199 regions, so the AI might very well reach it before you do, even though you hold a large amount of land. There are also certain provinces that have to be took. Playing the Turks, you must march on the Byzantines (I don't remember the settlements you have to take), the HRE (Austria) and quite a few other (rebel) settlements.
