    Default Turkmenistan-Iran Pipeline

A bit of old news, but all the same quite interesting. This shows now that Turkmenistan is not only looking to Russia or China, but has begun to look towards Iran. I think its a good thing as both economic and living standards will rise near the Iran-Turkmenistan border and hopeful within Ashgabat itself. I hope that Turkmenistan becomes an ally of Iran as they rise upwards even though they have been differences between Iranian and Turkmen people.

At least Turkmenistan has gas - something to bargain with. Some of its neighbours have much less.

I'm sure there is a Central Asian country that speaks almost exactly the same dialect of farsi as the Iranians. Does Turkmenistan speak Turkish or something different? Let me google this badboy.

Edit: TAJIKISTAN!!! I knew it man i ****ing knew it. Whats weird about it is that Takijistan is pretty far away from Iran. Its like Poland speaking english. That some weird **** man. Anyway, thanks, you're good guy i will attempt to rep you now.

More like Romania speaking (a form of) Latin. Pretty much the same situation, actually.

Tajikistan is the most ed up of all the countries around there, except Afghanistan, probably.

there is a Turkmen population in Iran though:

an Afshari Turkmen called Tahmasp Qoli Khan even took power in Iran in 1736, proclaiming himself Nadir Shah Afshar

    he ruled a sizeable territory:

They do not. Turkmenistan speaks either Russian or Turkmen. There are Turkmen in Iran as there are in Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and other parts of Central Asia.

Hopefully this means good things for the people of Turkmenistan, as long as the government doesn't squander the money on wholly idiotic ventures such as digging a lake in the desert.

In further news, Turkmenistan is looking for closer links to the Middle East. I approve this since we historically were always linked to either Iran or the Middle East.

Now if Turkmenistan gets better through the links with the Middle East I could move back.

"I have always held the religion of Muhammad in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion which appears to me to possess that assimilating capacity to the changing phase of existence which can make itself appeal to every age. I have studied him - the wonderful man and in my opinion far from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the Saviour of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness: I have prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today." It's helpful sure, but having a corrupt ass government that happens to be one of the most dictatorial as well. Ashgabat is nice, for sure, but people have no rights whatsoever. The police force is corrupt as hell, and even though the new Pres. isn't as crazy as Niyazov(sp?), it's still pretty dictatorial. Anyways, why would it seek closer ties with Iran besides just for trade? Are you talking about militarily? I thought Turkmenistan wanted to remain perpetually neutral in all things which is why they withdrew or reduced their level of membership in the CIS. Right?

Did ya'll know Youtube is banned in Turkmenistan lol?
