Go near them with your general and click "rally". if you are lucky, they will answer your call and come back in battle
I think there's a morale option in the preferences file but I'm not sure.
He is right. Sometimes you can be as lucky as me with only 1 archer left >>>>> http://www.twcenter.net/forums/picture.php?albumid=3098&pictureid=33490

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
There is a moral option in the preference file.
Open it, then go to MORALE:TRUE, and change it to MORALE:FALSE.
Beware that no unit will be routing, even peasants will fight to death.

You could also choose the ARCADE mode, but that has other consequences as well: no tiring, no time limit.
IF you dont like to do it yourself, there are mods that offer a longer and larger battle experience. Try SPQ mod or Roma Surrectum.
Edit the export_descr_units file (I think that's the one) then modify the value for morale. It's there somewhere, just search for it. Like change it to 13 or something for all of your units. This is the base morale, which gets progressively lower as the battle progresses and you take casualties and hits from the rear, (and all the yadayada morale-lowering things.) Changing the base morale to a higher value means that the unit will take more of a beating... but will still rout, eventually. It's less boring that way, you can have eastern infantry that's willing to stand up to praes and urbans.![]()
