    Default Swiss guards overpowered

    Just fought an mp battle and this is how it went...

    my rifle men scatterd the Fench infantry men and was taking fire from 3 swiss guard units from the woods. i had managed to bring up the bulk of my army behind the Swiss guards which was a general, 2 line infantry, Gaurds, coldstream guards 33rd new york and the other better line infantry u get with the DLC, cant mind there name. I also had a unit of dragoons hitting them from each flank.

    i decde to save my riflemens amo as the Swiss where in the trees so pulled them back and decides to attck with my 6 units of line, with bayonets.....but the Swiss Guards kicked my ass in the mele 2 UNIts against 6! WTF! my 6 where good units! i even lost my general as i had to rush him in.

    I eventually beat them but they where winnind decisivley for ages and killed 3/5 of my men...surely they must be overpowered....

    It's true, Skwisgaar is overpowered. He's the fastest guitar player in the world you know.

    You are aware that the Swiss Guards are the most expensive unit in the game, right?
    Here's your problems:
    1. what do you mean, "save your riflemen"? They could have shot the Swiss from out of range, no danger there.
    2. you should not have attacked the guards in melee (where they are, as you have noticed, next to unbeatable); 6 line inf would have shot down the two guard units.
    3. you had guards yourself? Why didn't you use those to attack in melee?

    If I recall correctly melee fights are one on one between each individual unit. If you outnumber an enemy 10:1 the odds are in your favor do to attrition but its not like 10 of your guys will gang up on 1 of his, each individual unit pairs with one enemy and they fight until someone is killed and then they pair with another. The Swiss Guards are very powerful and your line infantry were clearly overmatched one on one. If you zoomed in on the fight you would have seen 80% of your infantry doing nothing.

    As others have said it would have been better to engage them with your guns. Move the line up to engage them and then move your rifles to the flanks to provide supporting fire. When they start to waver use your guards to drive home the charge.
