    Default Esperanto and Conlangs

Not sure if this goes here, but I was hopping through the internet to find the constructed language called esperanto. Theres arguement that its trying to take the diversity of languages by trying to create one universal language. Also some people say its ugly, which it kinda sounds wierd, so I felt, should we see for our love of history, create some sort of language??? Completely new, sounds European, but in reality isn´t??? To try to make the worlds first true neutral language???

PS: Sorry if this is wrong topic...

    Newspeak versus Oldspeak?

The problem with changing up languages is that things become lost in translation. Of course, it would be wonderful if at this time, everyone knew when and how their colloquialisms came into existence, as well as what words actually meant.

I think it would be fantastic to completely create a new language from scratch, no influences, no culture, only logic and psychology are used.

    NewChurch versus OldChurch?

The problem with merging all of the "One True Faiths" together is that they cease to become just that. You simply did just create a new religion.

We already have one universal language, it's called English.

I have no idea what the out-of-fashion universal language has to do with religion.

Yeah. Try the academy, or the Arts. You'd probably get a better result in the Academy though!

I enjoy the idea of creating languages; however as cfmonkey pointed out, it is an issue of newspeak vs oldspeak. There are the 'superfluous' words in english, and linguistic traditions that seem unecessary, but on some occassions there just seems no better word for it. And a language without tradition becomes too utilitarian. I use to mildly support utilitarianism as a way of thinking, until I began to think about culture and tradition, and how, although appearing unneeded and unproductive, they do add merit and value to things. Perhaps intangible, but I think they have their niche in life.

With this in mind, I've always entertained the notion of creating a language in the style of tolkien, and making quirks and colloquialisms. The language itself holds an important key to the culture. To lose culture over efficiency I see as a bad thing. Unfortunately, with the homogenisation of globalisation, it seems a not-too-distant reality.

I made one and I wanna see if it can be approved by a few of you. For example if I wanna say, I live in New England.

    It's

Ei firende ev Devo Anglaterri. Sounds kind of italian...

If you wanna say. 'That was very easy'. Its

    Ess seino mess saburo,

because it uses the same styles as other languages... for example you wanna make is to past tense add no...

so its sei (is) to was which is sei-no... get it?

    In a way yes.

    It's pronounced:

the letter "n", the word "merry" followed by "most" without the "t", "let", "nah" "taya", "ariza" said very quickly "noi."

It might help a little bit.
