The dirt: Popeman on the march, Allied to me but kicked ALL other Italians to the curb. He is taking Nothern Italy. (Florence, Bolonga, and currently sieging Venice & Genoa with a full stacks.} he's currently at war with Genoa {excom} and Venice. Warrior Pope in high gear and got plenty of Dis....

...which is a pity. I'd like to see the pope going , especially in north america or the holy lands. In my current norway campaign it was a real surprise that he joined the crusade on Vilnius.

He just seems to sit in rome threaten to excommunicate me when I attack someone die and the next does the same thing. However he did go after a city from Venice and got his ass kicked but since then hes done nothing.

Mr pope is currently expanding his baltic empire via making me conquer more of it (i gift it to him in crusades). Though he hasnt been very agressive himself, it is questionable as to why exactly christendom must be constantly defended over there...

Pope, in my current English Campaing has gone berserk, destroyed Venice, Hungary and nearly destroyed HRE (my only allies).
I have been at war for over 50 turns with the Pope, managing to retrieve some territories from them, and helped rebuild HRE, giving them 3 cities so far. Irish, Scots both gone. Frenchies are nearly gone, tough i gave them a break, since they are under attack from 3 sides, and i wanna make my campaign more fun.
Currently fighting both the Pope and Denmark, lots of fun.
Oh, BTW, the Pope has Tyrant title now

Currently he's just sitting in Rome with 11 (Yes, 11) full stacks and... Does nothing. He also has Florence and 2 full stacks around it.

Earlier in the campaign, however, and with a different Pope, he invaded Egypt after I gifted him a castle near it and he helped me defeat them.

He is RUNNING AWAY from the despiciable castillians! those spaniards had not only broke their alliance with me (Sicily) but with my Noble Ally the Pope. Uhm...unfortanetely, I have no troops to send there to help him (and other four of my cardinals with empty "seats"...lol)

In my last campaign, Genoa kicked him and his clan out of Italy and then he, just disappeared, abducted by Aliens perhaps!!!!

In an older Venetian campaign, I gifted the Pope Jerusalem and Acre, so as to make Rome no longer his capital, so I could buy it... Anyway, about 30 turns later, the Pope calls a Crusade on Jerusalem. Confused, I removed the fog of war, only to discover that the new capital of the Papal States was Astrakhan, and that Georgia and a large portion of southern Russia were under Papal authority! Then, the TO settled down right next to the Papal States (in Kiev) and with a lack of Catholics in the vicinity, by turn 190, Russia and Turkey, as well as parts of the old Kwarezem Empire (the Mongols booted them, and the Pope booted the Mongols) were controlled by the two factions.

I once saw him take over Italy (through diplomacy, not war), call a crusade against Antioch to support the Templars (well this was the first thing actually) and after taking some rebels and gifting some to the Templars, war started with the Fatimads. Both Templars and Pope had a quite strong presence in the area, so the Fatimads were defeated (Pope gained most of the land).

After that, the Pope took on the Seljuks and Kwarezmians, and came out on top, crushing the (no longer) unstoppable Golden Horde in the progress. At the end he ruled more land than most factions combined.

But as I was playing the Pope myself I guess that doesn't count.

i never played the Pope, so i cant know
but i am doing quite well against the Pope. fighting 4 factions at a time, with only 1 ally(me and HRE vs Pope, Danes, France and Aragon)

I saw mad popes. In RR ussual are really peacefull guys. Sometime, when it ask meto crusade some wierd location, "go to Jerusalim unbeliver", I was interested to give him the city. If was Jerusalim, Cairo or Gaza, he always fail to keep them.
Now, in my France campaign he got Ancona, Pisa and few turns ago Bologna. Dunno what he done in Sicily, hope is not very nervous. When I was in war with Genoa, he steal pisa, same happend with Ancona when Serenissima Republica failed 3 times to take Milan. Right now the God representative act like a hiena, Genoa became my vasal, Venice is broke and have 3-4 provinces. After he take Bologna, he go to crusade Frankfurt. Sadly for him Catile get there first. No need to say my old ally HRE got lost two thierds of his Reich. At turn 110 Pope look powerfull enough to give me head ache, and is a french pope.

in my current Crusader States campaign i gifted the pope edessa, but he's not hurting anyone, he just have a few stacks running around doing nothing..i always get the booring pope's i guess

In my current TO campaign he is sitting in the middle of Hungary.
Well, not long before obtaining Brasovo by Pope, Sicilia started war against him and captured Rome.
Then that sicilian mafia started killing every new pop-up Pope. I was damn annoyed by papal election screen at start of every turn and asked for crusade at Rome (funny thing itself).
Few bombards and swarm of foot halbbruders did their work, my generals get chivalry and Pilgrim trait, my units get experience, and I ceasefired with Sics, but sicilian killers still killed every new Pope.
Then I gifted him Brasovo (captured it from the Kiev, dunno how they get there, it was surrounded by Byz and Hungary territories).
Now, if Sicilians will go for Pope they should attack Hungary.
And if Hungary will attack Pope (or vice versa), I'll breake alliance with Hungary and conquer all their lands.

Btw funny thing about diplomacy. When crusade started, Genoa made vassal from Sicilia, it was just like offering protection agaisnt whole catholic world.
But when I joined crusade Genoa get rid of her vassal, and few turns later attacked Sicilia
