    Default Modding unit size

    Hi

Cant seem to find a thread relating to changing unit size. I wouldnt mind making a few mods to this just to make it harder for myself when im playing as rome.

If anyone can post the stat in the file i need to change. I know which file it is and the cap on the largest a unit can be.

    Thanks

If you look at the top of the EDU you should see a bunch of instructions that tell you what everything is. It's the first number for the "soldier" line.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Thanks for all this. The only issue im having is with Elephants and Artillery. Basically ive increased unit size and amount of artillery in the unit. Any battles involving these dont start (i will probably return these to the original values. Also for a laugh i increased unit size of elephants to 60 (240 on large game) However as soon as i start a battle with these the elephants all go out of control as soon as the battle starts and there is only the 24 in the unit.

I imagine increasing unit size will have an impact on city size but i may just bump up population growth rates and initial city size.

The only reason i am doing this is that i really only ever find the initial 30 turns a challenge and then its just steam rolling ive played total war to long to ever find it to hard!

I think there are limits to the size of mounted units or something. Try keeping it at no more than half the max size of a unit. Same with artillery units--there's probably something in the link I gave you about it.

Have you tried playing with stricter house rules and not taking advantage of the AI so much? That can make it much more challenging.
