    Default Changing Models - Help

I have limited experience with modding empire, the only thing i can really do is change the flags
I'd like to change the russian line infantry model to the bulkelys regiment one or the blue guard one with the long trench coats. Then I can practice some retexturing on them and make a good looking unit hopefully.

The first thing i tried was simply renaming the files for bulkely's regiment into russian ones but obviously that didn't work, ended up with some mish-mash mutant unit.

Can anyone tell me how its done or point me to a guide?

    Thanks.

Right first you will need DB editor from lt Chambers as well as mod manager.

Heres a good tutorial to get you on the right track. Its not my work, I just put the two together.

Where are the Scots texture for the United Provinces faction? I want to replace it with a skin Sir DCC made that he says others can put into the game. It doesn't seem possible to edit the models.pack file which has the default textures.

That skin would be used by all highlander units - change one and you'd change them all.

So if I want to add that new texture only to the UP Scots I'd have to create a new unit?

That can't be right. Seeing as I have 3 different retextures for Black Watch, Royal Ecossais (both by Sir DCC) and Dutch-Scots

Ok just read through the tutorial, do i need to create a new unit? I dont want to change any stats for it, just the path to the model. It needs to be pathed to the model of blue guard or w/e and then the euro_line_infanty_russia will work?

You can just copy the Russian line in units stats land into your own table of unit stats and change the model to your chosen one.

Ok i've copied all the stats etc, i've got the model bit and it says euroline or something like that. How do i find the name of bulkelys reg? And how do i get it to replace the regular russian line?

Right find the entry for Bulkeleys regiment in the same table it should be called sp_ed Wild Geese

Then go along until you find the model column and copy whatevers in there on the correct line into your russian line inf unit.

    And hey presto, greatcoated ruskies!

Ok, I've got the line infantry as bulkeleys now Its all looking nice. I want to reskin the texture now, getting rid of the bandage etc. I've tried reskinning and renaming the bulkeleys reg texture but it doesn't seem to work. Also my drummer is still a vanilla line inf man

Anyone know how to get round this?

Right first, if you want better commanders the simple way is to get my bearskin officer mod, it makes officers more realistic for all units so no more silly santa hats, then its just a simple matter of changing the russian lines model entry in my bearskin mod to the bulkeleys, as for retexture what program do yoiu use?

I use Ps CS3. Im happy with the commanders, I meant to say my standard bearer is still the vanilla line inf man, not a bulkely style model. Also, which files do i reskin and what do i rename them too, if they are just replacing the reg line inf.

Right, i've tried fixing my own problem. I used the tutorial sent before but i keep getting the same problem
When i load the unit in a custom battle it just crashes to desktop. This only happened when i tried to apply my custom textures using the warscape db files.

Anyone know whats wrong? Probably a really obvious mistake.

    Heres some screenies.
