    Default Fixing City Info

I checked a few pages back and did not see this addressed. My apologies in advance if this has already been addressed elsewhere:

We all know, or should know, that the income shown for cities is deceptive, it is not the absolute income of the city, but its income minus its responsibilities.

Well, goody-gumdrops, that's all very clever, but what good does it do anybody?

This makes our cities's information abstract, arbitrary and useless. Is there any way we can get rid of it? Can't we just have the income from the city displayed? If we ever do need to see how much of the tax burden the city is footing, though I can't see to what use the information can be put, we can always look at the city's detail.

If this can be done, I humbly request that it be added to the to-do list for the next patch.

M2TW displays the gross income of your cities, probably to deal with this misleading information. The problem with that though is that it might lead people into thinking they are making all this money when they aren't. At the end of the day I think it's best the way it is currently. It's not ideal, no, but at least you can see the net income there and then. The show settlement details is enough for people who want to know exactly what's going on with their cities as well as the financial page.

Ultimately... I think people should read the instructions manuel before they play the game etc so that they know why Rome is showing -5000 despite it being the richest city

Just answer me this: What does seeing a -5000 under Roma's name do for the player? How does it help? What are we supposed to do with that information?

Seeing red numbers on the financial screen is useful, they are useful when seeing the whole picture, they are useless as we see them presently.

If we have some people who like this state of affairs, perhaps there is a hot-fix that those who are unhappy can apply?

To be honest I find it quite useful to know the net income of each city.

I mean, it took me a while to get my head round how it worked but now it's great.

I don't think the other way is much better either because you'll be going to the settlement screen just as much to see your loses and to see the breakdown of income too. With it being net income I can quickly calculate if my cities are making a loss collectively or not and how changes in taxes and the like impacts on that.

Anyway. I'll see if there is a way to change it.

I'll agree with Carados: the net loss/gain of each individual province is of little interest. What matters is the overall economy, and I prefer the current system which allows me to quickly calculate the financial status of my empire while scanning the map.

The number shown should be simply the net income of the city, equal to how much income (tax, trade, etc) sans expenses (troops, buildings, etc). That's the only useful financial income I can think of for at-a-glance, anyways.
