Kingdom of Jerusalem Faction Thread:
Hey all, this is where we can discuss this faction and its multi-cultural setting. I believe that the Kingdom of Jerusalem is sort of a hard military faction to get going but its economy is something to be jealous of. Post any thoughts or tips you have on this faction.

I'm keen on having a go at this faction and are still considering what I'd do at the start. Look forward to DLV tipsters on this campaign...

Re: Kingdom of Jerusalem Faction Thread:
What I did on my first turn, was reinforce Jerusalem with the army right outside the city then turtle my economy for a few turns and strike up trade rights with the locals. At turn 10 I start a campaign to wipe out the rebellious forces throughout the regions and then set my sights on Egypt once my armies are of sufficent size.

Re: Kingdom of Jerusalem Faction Thread:
I recommend that you make sure you are doing something with your diplomat each turn. Make an alliance, offer attacks on the rebels, get trade, give military access... maybe try to find a princess to marry...
If you are playing with the point systems enabled then you can try fishing for diplomatic missions by leaving your diplomat next to the faction's settlement. Don't initiate contact, just wait for the mission. But give up if you get a different mission, getting 2 doesn't seem to happen.
It's good to be building your empire, armies and relations. Good to have a governer king who is based in the capital after capturing the local rebel settlements. Good to try to develop your 2 settlements with capital lettered names, go for growth. And in the early game it's usually good to send a merchant off somewhere nice, like northern italy, maybe send him with the diplomat when you want to do some dealings with the papal states, which you will. The money from a well placed merchant can be very handy. Oh and get a synagogue built in a city with a church or abbey, just in case of disasters, you might need a loan...

All good points. It's very funny how you can overlook small little details like sending your merchants and diplomats to Italy. Oh do agaents have field cost when they're on boat travel?

Re: Kingdom of Jerusalem Faction Thread:
... I don't know but the merchant and diplomat don't get troubled with these costs

Oh okay thats what I was basically wondering. Cool I'll have to restart my very long (lol 8 turns in) campaign to try this.

You're really in at the deep end playing KOJ as your first faction, I'd suggest an easier faction like England to begin with. Just to reduce the learning curve a little, personally I love when a game makes me start again because I learn something that will make me more powerful, but it can get to be a drag playing through the same early battles... Just a suggestion, I'm sure you will get to grips with KOJ in time
