Default CTD when fighting a battle

I am playing Kingdoms its patched up to date the campaign runs ok but i am having a CTD when i try to fight a battle. If i auto resolve i can continue but if i try to fight the battle i get a CTD.

I have Windows XP service pack 3 and i do not have problems with other games. Any suggestions about what to try to resolve it.

Silly question to a man who has a masters degree in modding but by chance have you unpacked the game lately? if so did you delete the 2 geography files?

Read the readme in the Unpacker and you will know which two geograhy files that need to be deleted.

I have this same problem on vanilla Medieval II Total War, I have no mods and I havnt unpacked. My game version is 1.03.

When I try to fight a battle in the campaign it crashes and the first time a got a message telling me "Fatal graphics error, try lowering graphic settings and try again" or something like that. BUT It still works in custom battles. Campaign battles should work because ive had m2tw on my computer before, and it worked.

What are your computer specs as in cpu, memory, video card/chip and dedicated memory, operating system, monitor, game resolution, and unit sizes?

Have you updated all your drivers? Have you cleaned out your case?

I have a 2.4GHz Dual Core processor, 3gigs RAM, Geforce GTS 250 1024 mb graphics card, windows xp sp 2, monitor screen size 1280x1024. Game resolution 1280x1024, unit size Medium.
I dont see why this should matter though, since it works perfectly in Custom battles
I updated my drivers a few weeks ago, and it said they didnt need updating. What is "case"?

Your computer case. When was the last time you cleaned the dirt out?

Why haven't you upgraded to XP SP3?
