Default Just started playing the US campaign for the first time

After finishing the Road to Independence, I started up a new campaign with the US. After about a dozen turns I noticed all of the AI countries with the ability to research were gaining new techs very rapidly. Somehow faster than I am even though I built more schools and have more gentlemen. I discovered this by using the diplomacy manager and demanding techs and somehow the AI countries kept gaining new ones every other turn. Is this an AI "enhancement" to keep up with the player?

I think it works a little bit like the prestige. If you notice, every turn, the AI factions on the prestige menu jump up a lot. Im not sure why, but both Techs and Prestige work like that.

    Hi there.
Dare I ask a question or two?
In the RTI episode 4, how on earth can the player catch up with the Europeans in research since they are already finnished researching?
Are you sure you are not mistakenly taking into your account, the fact that you can only demand techs from the A.I. that you your self can research?
As per the first question, they do not gain new techs, since they are already done, per the second question, I guess that feature is missed out by many.

dcpuser: When you say "started up a new campaign with the US" do you mean RTI part 4 or a grand campaign?
