RTW Alexander Historical Battles

I keep beating Charoenea, the first battle you have to beat... but the others dont get unlocked. i beat it first on easy, then on medium. do i have to beat on hard to get unlocked? its really making me made cuz it took me a few tries to get the timing down >:O

I can't beat it, there's no space to do anything but charge right into Sacred Band phalanx. And if you run across half of map, all our phalanxes will be routed by then

You can run troops through the gap between the leftmost Sacred band and the rightmost Hoplite unit. I've done it, it's quite easy. I can even rout that Hoplite unit and help the Macedonians out.

But I've tried to get past it too. I beat it on Easy and Medium. Couldn't on Hard. But I think you have to try eithr hard or very hard.

Hi there.
I have my self never managed to get past battle nr. 1. I can win it, and have done so at least 4 times, but it will not unluck battle nr. 2 for me neither. If any one has a solution, I will give rep for it, since I have never seen battle 2.

also as far as the first battle at charonea its really hard i know. I first beat it on easy, then switched it up to medium and beat it two times there. heres how i did it:
1. this battle follows the almost exact events as the real one did. The Athenians (non sacred band) charged at Phillip and his allies. it follows the exact script in the game too, they charge straight for the phalangites on your right. while the sacred band, inches forward slowly (obviously they are smarter). However, this opens up a gap between the hoplites and the sacred band, a very very small gap.
2. How YOU react: charge 2 of your companions through that tiny gap (granted this is all about timing and you WILL lose some men), leaving Alexander and 2 other horsemen in front of the sacred band, and make them walk backward (if you keep them there they will eventually get skewered ) The next thing you can do, is to either help the phalangites on your right, and charge into the rear of the hoplites and eliminate a good amount, or charge into the sacred band.
3a. If you chose to charge the hoplites, only charge once, then pull out, as you will need the rest to kill the sacred band.
3b. If you chose to charge into sacred band instead move onto the next step.
4. This is the hardest part, actually defeating them. It takes precision and a careful eye to master this. I lost about 7 times before I even won once. Alternate charging into the flanks and rear of the sacred band. As soon as they turn their spears around to face your cavalry (its easy to see when they begin to start) charge your cavalry out of there, and then charge another group into the rear (as the sacred band have just turned to fend off your former charge). keep doing this repeatedly to each one (as i have said, this is hard, the 3 units will split up and go for all of your units) until the number have narrowed. Eventually you can focus all your cav units on one, and then send one fleeing. Then turn them all onto the next one to send them fleeing too. and finally finish the last one.
5. Finish the battle. Its not hard to finish the battle, most of the other units will flee after the sacred band is destroyed.
Last word: REMEMBER SPEARS>HORSES, CAVALRY>REAR OR FLANK OF PHALANX AND NEVER CHARGE A PHALANX FROM THE FRONT.

Search on youtub, you will find help for the battles there.

I have done Chaeronea, and it opened the battle on the Granicus. However, its been a while since i played it. (Brian Blessed should do every historical battle in TW)

Yeah. I've beat Chaeronea on Hard and didn't unlock Granicus.

I don't remember exactly what I did but I know for certain there is a way to unlock them by editing. Go to your alex folder and then alexander\data\world\maps\battle\custom\Granicus and delete a file named locked. If its not there then just look for it in the Alex folder and delete it. I remember it was there somewhere. You also have to delete every locked file for each battle. I hope this helps you or atleast gives you hope.

yea i did unlock them. Its somewhere in the Alex\data folder. you can find the battles and then there is a file that says literally "locked" delete that file and you can unlock.

btw, IM GETTING FRUSTRATED WITH ISSUS THERE IS SIMPLY TOO MUCH MEN ON THE PERSIAN SIDE WTF?? I CANT WINNN

Yesterday, I actually tried the historical battles myself, won the frist 3 and could unlock. Haven't played Issus yet. Could it have to do with the quality of the victory? decisive...

Play in easy and you may beat it

First use your cavalry to hunt down all skimisher from your side.Then group all your cavalry in one group.Send all your missile unit to soften the enemy (and let them take the enemy missile too).After your missile unleash all their ammo sen all your cavalry to crush 1 flank while your infantry the other flank.You have to bring your cavalry to the real of their formation and chase down Darius.
