The public order in the town was high. I suppose it has to do something with bribes, as there was a rival diplomat standing near city, but i am not totally sure, so i would like to ask you what happened.
I am playing on XGM mod as Pontus.

Could have been bribed by the enemy diplomat if the town turned over to be controlled by that faction.
Insatiable as the flame, I burn, and consume myself.
More than likely that was the case. I went a couple of games without seeing anything like this, then all of a sudden in like 3 games back to back my generals were leaving me and joining my enemies. It would happen durin the AIs turn, and then when my turn came around a slider on the side would come down and it would say that this general or captain or whatever had betrayed us. It wouldnt actually tell you that they were bribed or what faction they joined. Something wierd also happened, I had a city with 2 generals in it, and durn the AI turn, one of the generals revolted and became a rebel, and took like half of the army with him and kicked the rest out of the city, and it became a rebel city. I wasnt happy, but I took it back and slaughtered them all in revenge
EDIT: In the case of my taken city, the public order was high as well, so I'm not sure what had caused it. Normally if the rebels take over, there are atleast a few turns of rioting. I just assumed it was a single man's ambition and slaughtered him for his treason.

Come on, it didn`t say they were bribed and both the army and the town stayed mine! I think i saw diplomat read a scroll, then they left it.
P.S. Once when i played as Thrace in Vanilla, i sieged a Macedon town and they senda diplomat asking ceasefire. I counter-offered them demanding they gave me the town i was sieged AND THEY ACCEPTED. Since there`s no doubt the AI diplomacy is stupid in RTW, when it makes clever decisions, you may get pretty surprised...
