Stainless Steel 5.1 download or 6.2 performance increase?
Hello everyone, i first want to thank King Kong for all his dedication and hard work to this community and that im glad to finally be part of it. Now, on to business.
Ive recently downloaded Stainless Steel 6.0. And deleted my 5.1 version. Upon starting it and playing ive noticed a very big drop in performance. Im running a fairly low end computer and 5.1 worked quite smoothly, however in 6.0 in have a very laggy campaign map and nearly unplayable battles. Ive tried to lower the graphical properties and the performance gets a little better but still very annoying.
So my question is: 1. Does anybody have a copy of 5.0 and 5.1 available for download? (The links are all broken on its page and the alternate links always tell me that their servers are overloaded) or 2. Does anybody have a fix for 6.2 that will help the game run smoother and faster?
If anyone could help me id be forever in your debt. Thank you in advance!

Turn campaign shadows off in the graphics options. That'll help things on the campaign map.

Ive done all i can, I.E. "turning the shadows off as well as grass, lowering unit detail, ect." My processor is a dual core with 256mb of memory so you can see why id have trouble running such a large game. I was wondering if their were any submods that increase performance? Otherwise id prefer to go back to 5.1 untill i get my new desktop in the summer.

Dual cores wont help as M2TW wont take advantage of them. Dont know what else to suggest if you've turned everything down.

Well I can't help you with what you've requested, but, without knowing your financial situation (or your other system specs), I can say that ram is usually very very cheap to buy and easy to install, and it can help a lot with performance,
