Ok I bought the Imperial Edition on steam when it became available, I swear when I purchased it it said I would get the Elite Regiments and the Heroes of the Napoleonic Wars and it was not laid out like it is now on the .com. On Steam it says I'm getting the Imperial Edition not the limited edition so what gives and what kind of crap is the marketing team trying to pull. I honestly just want a refund and will buy the retail version since now appears you get more with that version. Why do I even bother to pre-order?

Well you do get(an extra copy I presume)of MTWII Some people won't have actually played it, so that's not so bad.
Why don't you email Steam and ask for clarifcation on whether their version of the Imperial edition has the Elite and Hero extra unit packs, as it seems there is certainly some doubt about!

Oh and here is the other thing that ticks me off, the steam version of M2TW keeps crashing on Windows 7 so its worthless to me.

It's the same old story, some people want their cake, and expect to eat it.
If you can be bothered, go to the MTWII forum and see if anyone can help.

The game crashes as a battle loads, I can't expect M2TW to work on windows 7 64 bit. Its alright I have two gaming computers the other has vista. I also have two retail version of M2tw as well so I really didn't need this one.

That's not what I'm talking about, I paid for the premium digital download 39.99 plus tax. I should get the elite regiments and the heroes of the Napoleonic Wars why does the retail box get this and not the digital version?

Not happy about this at all.

Never preorder anything for Digital Delivery. There's always a infinite supply of it.

Preorders are good if you know something will be limited In production and you have a strong desire to own, like collectors editions that include physical items such as figurines or books. Items that will usually only have one production run due to manufacturing costs can be a good reason to consider a preorder.

Nothing digital is truly limited. It's cheap to distribute as long as there is a demand, as recently evidenced with ETW and the special edition units for sale on Steam.

Definitely contact steam first and let them now about the problem first I'm sure they will help you out. Let us now how you go? Good Luck

I answered No - benefit of the doubt I'm starting to come to the realization that this is new world of game marketing -

I'm sure Steam will do something about it.

I also agree with Abspara - as I said new world of game marketing - oh well adapt and wait for the price to fall - I guess new customer tactic

Yeah, Abspara is absolutely right; there is no merit in digital pre-order. When one makes the decision to buy a product before its actuality arises, one is pitting the preorder extras against the risk of the product not meeting expectations. When dealing with honourable producers and distributors, the latter should be nil, as the company will advertise nothing but the truth, so there is no real reason not to pre-order either... but Reiksmarshal, you are aware of E:TW? The CA is by no means a trustworthy mob!

On the positive side, as you are dealing with digital produce, there is no real rationale for anyone to prevent you from retracting your order.

Certainly not a scam, just a very poor job at advertising their products.

The Imperial Edition has both DLC unit packs--that is, by definition, the Imperial Edition. Therefore, the Steam Imperial Edition should have both DLC unit packs--the fact that the wording on the site is ambiguous and doesn't mention both packs is a little troubling. Maybe, since the 5-unit pack is mentioned in the Steam Regular Edition, they didn't mention it in the Steam Imperial Edition, assuming that the purchaser would understand the 5-unit packs comes part-and-parcel with the game regardless. If for some reason the Steam Imperial Edition does not have both packs, then that's false advertising--it's not the Imperial Edition! And you should receive your money back.

On a final note, Limited Edition = Imperial Edition minus the poster. Limited Edition is just America's boxed version of the Imperial Edition, because us Yankees don't need the extraneous stuff we just want the game.
Let me persuade you with my powerful logic skills.

In light of the Total War series, a quote from the theologian whom I respect the most:

The Heavenly City outshines Rome, beyond comparison. There, instead of victory, is truth; instead of high rank, holiness.

Haters be hating. I think this is more human error than CA trying to swindle you out of your money with illegal marketing scams.

I saw no mention of the elite regiment (5 unit pack) on the steam standard edition page:
    http://store.steampowered.com/app/34030
The imperial edition on steams store also doesnt show the elite regiment pack.

Crappy marketing. for 39.99$ on steam you get just the standard edition and the royal scot greys, but I get the elite regiment(5 units) and heroes of napoleon(10 units) for 39.99$ for the limited edition at gamestop.

I would hope that steam would have fixed it by now if it was a error on the page.

The marketing of the game is a scam, if the game is also is yet to seen i guess.

    Taken from the website:

"The "Elite Regiment" pack is only available when purchasing a box copy of Napoleon: Total War Standard or Imperial Edition."

    http://www.totalwar.com/napoleon/gam...al_edition.php

The information is on the website it's just well hidden. Whoever is in charge of communication at CA should be fired IMO.
